FimFiction Cheat Sheet! · 1:28am Nov 15th, 2015
Hello! This is a weird blog, but what the hell. I'll throw it here for any of you who might want it. Here's a list of websites and other things that I frequently...eh...frequent. Maybe you'll all find use of them, too.
1.) Colorpod.com
This is a neat little website that comes in handy when coming up with good colour combinations for OCs.
Exactly what it says on the tin. A nice little resource that forms a good basis for basic body language to help with all your "showing-not-telling" needs.
3.) I Write Like...
Not exactly useful, but certainly interesting and fun. Throw in some of your writing and it'll analyze it and somehow tell you what authour your writing style is similar to. I'm J.K. Rowling, in case any of you were wondering.
4.) Wordcounter
Again, more interesting than useful. Copy and paste in a bit of text and you'll get the whole kit and caboodle of statistics. Average sentence length, average reading time, and perhaps most useful, most common word usage. My most used word, apparently, is "Luna", followed by "ponies" and "magic."
A pony fanfiction written on Dec 31st, 1969, probably by Emmett Brown or The Doctor. You needed this in your life, trust me.
6.) RhymeZone
For all your zebra writing needs.
7.) 45 Ways to Avoid Using the Word Very
"Subsitute 'damn' every time you're inclined to write 'very.' Your editor will delete it, leaving the text as it should be."
— Mark Twain
8.) GrammarGirl
Blunt, simple to understand grammar tips.
(I'll probably add more to this list as I discover things. Hope this has been helpful!)
My pony fiction writes like Chris Palahniuk, apparently.
