I mean, first of all, all the adorable background ponies
As a side note, the diversity in body tapes and facial structures for all of the background Hooffields and McColts is really fantastic, and a far cry from Season 1 to 3's army of recolors of the same dozen ponies
But moving on, this was a really solidly written episode. It had plenty of great jokes, lots of fantastic visuals, and a pretty freakin' solid moral. And I mean, it wasn't last week's episode, so there's that. Now I'm off to do all of that schoolwork I need to do over the next week or so.

Also, adorkable Twilight Sparkle is best Twilight Sparkle.
I loved it. Hopefully the new background ponies will get some treatment from the fandom.
I think short of showing the mare at the top left first picture and the one in the green dress tearing each other up with those hooves, hard and sharp slapping and stomping each other, you pretty much capture my all favorite moments. That shiner makes the psycho shovel pony whose wielding it sideways to cleave the mare in two look all the more dreary. (she's the cutest imo)
Those carrots though. I can only picture them having started with throwing carrots instead of tomatoes first and it going clean through Twilight's cutie mark or stomach. Yeesh. Haven't seen carrots used for killing like that since I mistook that one snowman movie with the one where the dad tried getting home for christmas.
I've never been able to trust a snowman since. ._.
Don't forget the Hatfield & McCoy feud reference though, which is a thing that actually happened from 1863 to 1891, except it was a lot darker and had several deaths...

I'm sorry but I really couldn't stand Twilight in this episode. She's basically become the Ned Flanders of Friendship is Magic at this point, just an over-exaggerated cardboard cutout with no characterization anymore. Looking back, this change could have happened to her back in the season three premiere. The episode was fun and had lots of great characters but it was hard for me to watch because I kept cringing every time Twilight said or did anything.
