Miss Koi "The Hooffields and the McColts" · 9:18pm Nov 14th, 2015

Get it? The Hooffields and the McColts?:D It's a pun on the Hayfields and the McCoys, a literary pun:D
As Lego Batman would put it...

Hehe, get it?;)

Dang! I'm sooo good at it;) Oh wait one more, and the episode did it for me...
Withering Hooves:3

(Me as Discord, and my poor audience as Tirek)
Okay guys, I'm done:) I just got a kick out of Withering Hooves because it's pony version of Withering Heights and I'm a book/English nerd, so whatcha going to do? That's right bronies, Fluttershy is not only a fan of anime but also classic literary works like Withering Hooves. In fact, the beginning of episode even shows us that Flutters has an adorable book club with her little animal friends :3 <3 Best part of the episode for sure;) I even love how Fluttershy even mentions her book club later in the episode as well. I'm telling ya folks, Fluttershy was simply adorable in this episode XD From her adorable commentary to helping out animals in the background and end up saving the day at the end of the episode(even though the animals were the biggest part of saving the day too), Fluttershy is following her tread of top form so far in Season 5. Definitely not as assertive as she was in other episodes, but more like kindly assertive and brave like she was in "Scare Master" which is still very welcomed.
Anyway, it was very interesting (at least for me personally) to have a Fluttershy and Twilight episode. I don't think we've ever had an episode really focusing on these two other than "DragonShy". So, I was excited to see what their interaction would be and how they would resolve a conflict together. Another great part of the beginning of the episode was Twilight getting super excited for a mission finally from the map:3 It was funny and matches the whole build up from the season long joke how bored Twilight is and how the map keeps denying her missions;) However, as much as it was in character for her to let her own geekyness and excitement for this map mission, I think she relied too much on the book and following procedure in order to rely on her own natural intellect and wit. Even though it was in character for Flutters to have Twilight be the leader in this situation, I still think she should have suggested more ideas on how to solve the dilemma at hoof. And I would have appreciated more of the quick thinking and thinking on her hooves Twilight we know rather than book mission Twilight. Even though Twilight learned her lesson in the end, but it didn't felt Twilight didn't contribute to the resolution at the end of the episode. Sure, she was able to stop the feuding families with magic but that was it though. Fluttershy and the animals were the true heroes in my opinion.
Even though the episode had great humor moments like...
Big McColt Daddy as a real shortie (which caught me by surprise and really had me chuckling:P)
and the ancestors of the McColts and Hooffields looking excatly like the Looney Tunes parody of The Hayfields and McCoys...

Most of the time, the humor was either lack of or just miss.
Overall, I give this episode a in between 7.9 to 8 hearts out of 10. It had good points and moments, but not enough to balance out with the bad to make it a very good episode.

OH, Withering Heights was the reference
I just thought it was a random book. The more i know the better.

Some of the humor was missed, but i still thought it was a great episode.
So, we have two episodes left, i doubt that i will hate them. I am sure the next episode will be good and the season Finale might be interesting >:)

we will see what happens. The bet is still afoot.

Yes, but as the old adage goes "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
BTW, my review is up, if you want to check it out.

Haven't watched this episode yet (because I'm being a lazy bum as usual), but after seeing that Looney Tunes picture I had to share this clip.

Other then that, I'll let you know what I think when I actually get around to watching the episode.

Haha lol love this episode of Looney Tunes, thanks for sharing the clip and remembering this episode with me;) If only this episode was took more opportunities to be funny like Looney Tunes did, but regardless, still enjoyed watching it:)
