Do you recall a blog post from a long time ago wherein I made mention of a horror-style fic starring Rarity? Yeah, me niether, but I do remember the idea itself. This is not that idea, but instead an abridged version of it with none of the buildup and aftermath yet most of the detail and suspense. Titled "Stillness," it's a quick project that took me somewhere along the lines of two hours to write. Much of that was trying to imagine different rooms in Rarity's home and different states for each.
If ever you wanted to see what kind of detail I can belt out in one take, this is probably the best you'll have in a while!
Of course, there was something that prompted me to write this now. Two words: Nightmare Night!
Yes, I don't really care for the holiday, but I do SO enjoy the kinds of stories based on and inspired by this night. And since I've been wanting to test the waters of a horror story for a while, the timing felt right to do so. That said, this oneshot is still part of the larger story I want to eventually tackle, so some details will definitely be carried over. I also felt compelled to make the entire fic read as a look into the state of things after the big event occurs. So, while there are clues as to what happened, it's not spelled out.
So what happened to Rarity? Who attacked her? Why is her home and shop in such a mess? And what is the significance of all the items shown throughout the building? Some of them are important - some of them are not. Who can solve the mystery?
