For me, Undertale has pretty much gone the way of Attack on Titan: people won't shut up about how 'amazing' it allegedly is, and all the hype is just making me want to play it even less.

3504429 It's definitely been very hyped up, but to at least some extent, part of the hype is how open the game is is terms of how you interact with it. Games are often so linear, having a game that allows you a lot of freedom in things is a new idea for many people.
The fact it's aimed solidly at the Earthbound fans helps too.
If nothing else, I'd say try and ignore the hype and try it if you enjoy very story driven RPGs with quirky aspects. If that's not your thing give it a miss.
