Shameless Self-Promotion I · 4:07am Oct 28th, 2015
My fourth full story has been submitted, approved, and posted. It's been less than 24 hours thus far, so I have no idea how it'll ultimately be received. Or if it'll be received.
I see people with no stories and few (if any) blog posts with dozens or hundreds of followers. I have 15 (y'all rock. woo-hoo). Won't lie; I'm a little jealous of others' popularity. I'd like more people to read my work. That's no shock; any writer wants to be noticed. I know I'm not the best writer in the world – if I was, I'd have gone pro years ago. What gets me is that the response to all of my stories thus far has been overwhelmingly positive (especially for "Burrito"), but only a small circle ever sees my stuff. I don't mean to pooh-pooh the response I've had – I'm thankful for every reader I get – but sometimes I wish I had more of a presence.
I'm just not very good at this self-promotion stuff. I looked into "Burrito's" statistics and apparently it got mentioned on Reddit's Sunset Shimmer forum, which is quite a surprise to me as I have no Reddit account nor any plans to ever get one. Maybe I should? This fandom being the way it is, everything is integrated. I have accounts on EQD and Youtube (same name & avatar as here), and on Derpibooru where I post under a different handle. I don't want to join Reddit though.
I decided to join more groups and start submitting my stories more places, to see if that might raise some awareness. I'm hoping it won't make people mad. I'm also hoping this post doesn't come off as too whiny.
