a poem about Scotland, by me · 7:50pm Oct 19th, 2015
Once I went to a far-off land to walk
And stand and see the bones of God's own Earth
That rose between the cracks in stubborn turf.
I touched the bones and they were stone, old chalk.
Like wounds, the soil skin is torn, and things stalk
In the shade; shadows of shadows, a dearth
Of simple existence. What is their worth,
Or mine, in this hallowed place? Then I balked,Asked: Is this the place where it all began?
Did God stand here and carve the world, back then?
I saw them again, His first children, ran,
But they -- enormous, ancient, beyond men --
Fell ponderous, as only mountains can.
When the dust settled, they're one with the Glen.
I looked with awe upon the birth of man
In the chalk of God's first, fallow Eden.
"My wonder caused one man affront
So he went to me and called me "cunt"."

O-oh my. Thanks for the follow, friend.
And yeah I've started appreciating poetry more nowadays, although I haven't written anything in a while.
3680626 this is really, really good. I get a bit of that romantic vibe here. Post more if you write more!
Or, alternatively, totally try to submit to little lit mags.
