Taking a little trip · 12:56am Oct 18th, 2015
This has certainly been an exciting year for me. First, I got to meet the cast of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (my heroes when I was a little kid), I dated a girl for about a month (which despite the fact that it ended quickly, I still consider it a good thing), and I got to see my favorite band from my high school years, AC/DC, in concert. Yes it certainly has been a good year. I know that my younger self would definitely jealous of everything that I've gotten to do. And now I'm going to add one more thing to the list.
I don't know if I've mentioned this in a past blog post or not, but my older sister has been living and teaching in Singapore for the last six years. At the end of November she usually comes back home to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with us, but things are going to be different this year. She's thinking of coming back to the states for good this time, right after the school year ends in the late spring. That means that she's thinking of not flying home this year. I'm sure by now, from reading the title, and this little bit I've mentioned about Singapore, you've probably figured out what I'm getting at here. That's right, in the first week of December I will be saying goodbye to the icy cold days of a Maine winter, and hello to the sweltering hot climate of Singapore. Guys, I've been looking forward to this ever since my sister moved away, I've just never been able to find the time, nor do I really have the financial means to do any real traveling. I don't really know what we're going to do over there, but I've heard a lot from her, and she's post a ton of pictures, so I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun.
But wait, there's more!
Now I'm only going to spend a single week in Singapore. Not a lot of time to spend in a country, I know, but there's a reason for that. After that one week, my sister and I, along with a few of her colleagues, are going to be spending another week in Osaka Japan. I won't lie, but traveling to Japan has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid. It's at the very top of my bucket list. Honestly, in all my life I never thought that I'd actually get to go; it was always that one thing I would do someday. And now that day is approaching. Granted, I was aiming on going to Tokyo, but Osaka is no less exciting. There's just so much to do, like go to Kyoto, see Osaka Castle, Universal Studios Osaka (which I checked, and yes, it is open in the winter). The one place I'm most excited to visit is Nipponbashi, which is a big shopping district similar to Tokyo's Akihabara. I've done a little research, and there are entire buildings dedicated to stores that sell anime merchandise. Seriously guys, there's an entire store dedicated to nothing but Gundam (not much of a fan myself, but that's still really cool). I'm looking forward to spending a lot of money on anime goodies. My sister's friends are also thinking that they want to spend a night at a traditional Japanese inn which is pretty cool.
I'd like to be able to keep everyone up to date with everything, and share my experiences, so I'm thinking that I might vlog my trip, and post the videos to youtube, or I might get an instigram account and post my pictures there, or I'll just post my pictures on my DA account. However I choose to do it, I'll be sure to let you guys know so you can see what I'm up to. I can't wait guys, this is all very exciting. And now I'm off. Goodnight.
