    Season 9 Retrospective

Warning: Season-wide spoilers abound. Proceed with caution.

I need to write this while the emotions of the finale are still fresh in my mind. Though the stories will continue in the comics (and countless fanfics, I'm sure), this is truly the end of an animation era. So, as a final season, did it go out with a bang, or a whimper? Follow me below the break to see my take.

Random Thoughts: The Beginning of the End

Warning: Spoilers abound. Proceed with caution.

Mama pajama, that was a rush. I really feel like something was rekindled here. Season 8 was alright, but I will admit it didn't have the same energy that made me fall in love with this show. This episode, however, had that energy in spades. Follow me below the break as I just gush a bit on what an epic season opener this was.

    Season 8 Retrospective

Welp, that was fun, huh? I know for most of you, the season ended earlier thanks to the Australian broadcast, but I didn't have the luxury of checking that out. Also, I'd rather do things by the book.

    Random Thoughts: The Washouts

Warning: Spoilers abound. Proceed with caution.

Let me just start off by saying great googily moogily, what a weekend this was! I thought Season 7 had scheduling problems, but this was just insane! Well, at least it's still trackable. Unlike some other shows I can mention *cough*TheLoudHouse*cough*.

Warning: Spoilers from the latest episode, Crusaders of the Lost Mark, abound. Proceed with caution.

Forgive me if this blog post is incoherent; I figured this out just now. We pretty much know that the Cutie Mark Crusaders's destiny is to be life coaches, yeah? They have their individual talents beyond that (as evidenced by the Coat of Arms on each of their shields), but that's their angle as of this episode. Well, I already have two stories where they are doing just that. Those stories are The Do Dilemma and Deserts and Dragons. I'll link them both here because I can't tag multiple stories in a blog post. Also, in case you haven't read either of them, there will be spoilers for those stories involved.

In The Do Dilemma, Scootaloo takes the knowledge she learned from the episode Sleepless in Ponyville and imparts it onto Tailspin, Daring Do's bumbling student. And in Deserts and Dragons, the CMC helped the dragon desperado Needles discover what it means to be a Dragon Mage. Couple that with the foreshadowing everyone missed in the episode Appleloosa's Most Wanted, and you definitely see a pattern emerging. Before anyone asks, this is completely accidental. I honestly had no idea that's the direction the writers were going. Then again, all of my fanfiction foresight can be chalked up to massive coincidences.

I-I just can't believe I was inadvertently contributing to the CMC's journey through my own stories. It's almost inspiring to think that I'm so in-tune with the show's canon that I can predict this kind of thing without even trying.

Then I remember the whole retcon I had to do with Daring Do and the Tiny Tornado, and I'm grounded back in reality. Still, neat coincidences are neat. :ajsmug:

Oh, and don't get me started on my headcanon regarding Cutie Mark mechanics which I introduced in my story Social Confinement. Everything I want to say about that can be conveyed through the story itself. I'll tag that one below so you can make the comparisons.
