Flash Fiction, Pony Style · 8:13pm Aug 7th, 2012

Hey all, since I gained a few followers from the LOEG switch, I figure now is a good time to mention again the two flash fiction blogs I help run. These blogs are intended to get people writing more, by providing writing prompts and structure, because writing more is one key to writing better. Practice makes perfect and all that.

First up is Thirty Minute Ponies, which provides daily 30-minute writing prompts which are usually posted sometime in the early afternoon, Pacific time. The submission box is open for six hours after the prompt is posted each day. This is a SFW blog, where clop and excessive gore are off-limits.
As of this writing, TMP is on its 69th prompt, with no signs of stopping. Prompts range widely, from "Twilight and Pinkie go to karaoke" to "Write a Gabby Gums article" to "The last pony in Equestria," and everything in between.
It's a good way to get yourself writing more often, and for me personally, I find that the restrictions of prompt and time limit allow me to have fun experimenting with style and technique because it's not a "proper" fic, so I don't need to worry about it being, you know, good. :D

The second blog is Sexty Minute Ponies, for clop authors and clop enthusiasts. Obviously, this blog is NSFW.
SMP posts a twice-weekly 60-minute prompt, on Wednesdays and Sundays. Prompts are open for 24 hours, midnight to midnight on the prompt day.
All kinks and fetishes are welcome. The only restrictions on content for SMP is that all sex acts must be consensual and that all participants must be adults.
SMP is a newer blog and is only up to its 8th prompt at the time of this writing. Some sample prompts are "Twilight Sparkle’s special talent in the bedroom," "The Mane Six all do something special together for Hearts and Hooves Day," and "Applejack only has time for a quickie." It's a great place to practice your clop-writing skills, so come and play. Er, you know what I mean.

Yes, meeting new writers is why I'm grateful to Wanderer D and all of you for going through this.
Nice to meet you too. And thanks for the introduction. I don't think I'm up to the timed challenges (would I even manage to hit enter one time during 30 minutes? :rainbowlaugh:), but who knows, maybe someday I will improve. :raritywink:

I'll probably try it out in the future.

275537 You should, they're fun. : D

275590 Welcome to my page. :yay: Haha, I know what you mean. Authors have submitted poems, haiku, and ultra-short fics of not more than a hundred words or so, so don't let length stand in your way. And speaking for myself, I definitely got faster from doing TMP stories. Practice makes perfect in the realm of speed too.

275594 Sweet, I look forward to it. The more, the merrier.

These sound like a grand old time. The prompts are really creative!
