The most recent part of When They Come is easily the most disappointing for me. The big reveal, the shocking revelation...is nowadays so fucking boring and overused. Super. Super. Disappointing.
I can acknowledge that it's not poorly written. That it was lead up to, foreshadowed. It's just that thing where you write something, think it's cool, and then years and years later it's been done to death (hah). What's worse, is that even at the time it was being done, better than I did it in fact. But I didn't know that until after the part was written.
There is no greater writer hell than writing something you think is brilliant, only to find days later that someone already did it better and more creatively than you will ever manage.
So here's my lament to that feeling. If you've felt it before, I sympathize with you, and also kind of laugh. You have to laugh when that happens.
In other news, when this is done, I want to throw a stupid skype party about never having to work on WTC again, and about all the time I spent on this. I will even call it Pencil's Pity Party because why not. Thoughts on this stupid thing I want to do?

...btw, I'm not genuinely sad and mopey and needing comfort or pats on the head. The story is what it is. I have my pride in parts of it too. Just wanted to voice my opinion on this bit in particular.

Huh rly? i have not yet stumbled upon a story with similar plot.If by "similar" you mean HIE, then yea^^
Still, doesnt matter if someone else has written something similar or "first", it only counts how good the story is
And that's why i don't go looking for "original" stuff. If i think the story is good, then that is good enough for me.
Being original nowadays is near impossible, since everything we can come up with are probably done elsewhere. Maybe it was from a classic piece of literature, or maybe it could be originate from some random shitpost on the Internet, we'll never know.
So follow your guts and go for it.
