I have a question about Griffins for all of you. · 10:32am Oct 8th, 2015
I have read a few HiE stories with griffins in them, and when the human talks about eating eggs the griffin is all like:
I have also seen a few art pieces where a griffin a taking care of an egg.
Seeing and reading things like that bother me quite a bit, because I believe that griffins give birth to live babies. Why do I believe that? Just take a look at a griffin:
The only parts of a griffin that are avian are the head, talons, and wings. The rest of the body is feline, including the reproductive organs. That is what leads me to believe that griffins give birth to live babies.
What do you think? Do griffins lay eggs, or do they give live birth?
Why not both?

I sat here for a good two minutes, trying to figure out how that would work...
3452009 Two vaginas would be cool.
The kids just comes out in half an eggshell? I don't know I just wanted to contribute.
Live birth, I'd imagine.
Considering the platypus, there is a real world example of a mammal that does lay eggs, so a Griffon doing so is plausible. I prefer to think of them as giving birth to live young.
Yeah Griffins are... weird, from a mythological standpoint, they do, in myths, build nests and lay eggs, but in modern media (Harry Potter mostly) they are implied to give live birth so... it can go either way really
Live birth is best birth.

I usually eat two tacos at a time anyway.

And contribute you did!

I was going to mention the platypus, but I figured that with the body being feline, it would follow the rules of a feline body.
Not that a platypus follows the rules!

Now that has me thinking about what the internal workings of a griffin is actually like...
Maybe they have more avian internal workings to allow them to fly, like hollow bones?
3453727 Maybe, I'm sure they have hollow bones and probably some flight organs, but I have no idea how reproduction works with them
Hmm... A compelling argument to be sure. I would personally have to agree with that bit of logic.
My vote goes to live young.
~Dollars.
I've always assumed it was from an egg.
I thought I was the only one weird enough to mull over this! It's been on my mind for months, just like how mermaids would relieve themselves with the whole "tail instead of legs" thing.

I thought I was the only one!
I like to look too deep into thing as well. See my last blog…
Oh my God! It would be like fish poop!
