The Wandering Bard

    Some OC Questions

Hey, all! This is a meme by gilgamemesh I've seen around Tumblr, and since I haven't gotten any asks about it there, I thought I'd post it here! Here's how it works: pick a number or multiple numbers from the list, post it/them in the comments, and in about a week or so (depending on how many asks I get), I'll post a follow-up blog about it! And if two people ask about the same number, that's

Tritton Kunai Universal Headset: My Thoughts · 2:08am Oct 8th, 2015

Now that I've had my Tritton Kunai headset for a few days, I wanted to share my thoughts on it. If any of you are considering getting a headset like this one, I hope you find this useful.

Setup: Fairly easy, though exacerbated by unhelpful guides
I bought the headset primarily to use with my PC, as I have no PS3, PS4 or PS Vita at the moment. While simply plugging the audio jack into the computer and my 3DS worked just fine, sticking the USB component into the PC with the jack attached provided an interesting challenge. When I tried to play music through the headset, the sound still came through my PC speakers. While trying - and failing - to find the answer online, I eventually stumbled upon it. I merely had to open the "Hardware and Sound" portion of the control panel, go to "Manage audio devices", and set the Tritton Kunai headset to default. Problem solved. The microphone was next, and only took a moment. Under "Manage audio devices", I clicked on the "Recording" tab, and clicked on the headset mic option to configure it. This only took a moment, and then I was good to go.

Sound: Excellent, but takes some getting used to
When first playing music with the headset, it sounded muffled to me. However, listening again today, the sound was much, much clearer than with the simple earphones that I have. I could hear all of the bass notes and the wailing guitar notes so much better! And when I listened to Best Friends Play: Bloodborne through them, I could actually hear the game as clearly as I could hear Pat and Woolie giving their commentary. And while I was playing Remember Me today, the music and the dialogue were all crystal clear. Well, mostly. A few lines at the end didn't sound as great, though I attribute this more to sound editing than the headset.

Controls: Easy to use
On the piece connecting the audio jack to the USB, you have three separate controls: one to mute the mic, one to control the game volume, and one to control your audio volume as you speak. All you have to do is flip a switch to mute or unmute the mic, and turn the knobs to control the audio volumes. That's it. Simple.

Overall, I am quite happy with my purchase. The first night I tried them, they started to make my head hurt as I wore them, but since I adjusted the headset to give me some more room between the top of my head and the headband, I have not had that problem. They are very comfortable, and don't make my ears ache from being pinched as other headsets or my earphones have. It was easy to attach the mic to the headset, and it can be easily removed again if need be. If I have only one complaint, it is that with the Universal headset that I bought, I cannot hear my voice as I speak like I thought I would be able to unless the headset is connected to a PS3 or a PS4. However, this is such a minor detail, and the only reason I knew of this feature was from being told this through a recommendation. This is by no means a deal-breaker, merely an extra feature that would have been nice, but is not necessary. I already know how to edit audio through my job, so as long as the original audio file sounds good to start with, I can edit and adjust it as needed while editing any recording I'll make.

With all that said, would I, myself recommend a Tritton Kunai headset to others? Absolutely. For only $50, this is a solid piece of equipment, and I've been reassured that they will last for a long time. Even if something should go wrong, with everything I've read while trying to solve my setup issues, it appears that the company will take the headphones back and fix or replace them, no questions asked. If you're looking for a good gaming/live streaming/let's play headset, these will serve you well.

Thanks, bestie! Yeah, they are really good! I'm very happy with them.

I'll have to look into these. I need a headset.

Let me know what you decide on! I'll be curious to see.

:pinkiegasp: The comment deleter strikes again!

"Best Friends Play: Bloodborne"

Holy, dear melodies, I never knew you were into these kinds of things!:rainbowlaugh:
( Best one is BFP: Pokemon Snap. I freaking lost it there, and still do!)

I have a something similar headset like yours, only problem is, my computer doesn't allow me to talk through it. ( It is 'listen' or 'talk', but I cannot do both. *Sighs*) So I use the listen part, since music is the best thing ever.:moustache:

Using headphones like these, are simply divine for when listening to music of any kind. Trance music for example, that what I listen to a lot, has many different up and down flows of bass, melody, rhythm, and beats. And when the sound is as clear as you've with these, a world opens up for you, and most probably everyone!

It sparks the imagination to unknown heights.

Good to hear the headset is working for you. But, I myself will stick with good old Sony headphones for now.

:rainbowlaugh: Which? Bloodborne, or Best Friends/Two Best Friends Play? For Bloodborne, I find the world intriguing, and the monster designs are absolutely jaw-dropping. For Best Friends/Two Best Friends Play, my very special somepony introduced me to them after a friend introduced him. I enjoy listening to them because they're very knowledgeable, and I like hearing their insight and speculations on good games, or their absolute ridiculous and often hilarious commentary on bad games.

The Pokemon Snap one was very good, even more so with Two Best Sisters Play. But if you want a good example of their video game knowledge, watch their Silent Hill 2 LP. For the bad game, go with Prison Break. Both are great in their own way.

As for the music, I can't wait to listen to more songs with them. I myself am a huge fan of rock n' roll, so I want to know what my favorite bands will sound like with these new headphones. I also love jazz, especially a modern day singer named Renee Olstead, so I'm excited to listen to her songs as well. And music certainly does have a way of fueling creativity, does it not?

I understand perfectly what you mean. I typically don't get new tech unless what I have doesn't work anymore. So I'll keep my earphones for listening to my iPod, and use the new headset with my computer. But while playing Remember Me the other day, my earphones were popping every now and then, so maybe this new purchase was made just in time...

3453874 Maybe. But do remember this. If you think your headset is good now, just wait till you use it for a couple months. Once it is broken in, it will sound quite a bit better.

Cheers! :pinkiehappy:

Cheers, mate! And thanks for that! Looking forward to it! :pinkiehappy:

3453872 I meant both regarding to Best friends play, as well as Bloodborne. I've seen Two Best Sisters: Pokemon Snap, It's what introduced me to them the first time. I cried while watching the animation with them throwing 'apple' products at the pokemons.:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

Rock n'roll is also awesome to listen to through headphones!:rainbowdetermined2: I think that Jazz will leave you slumping back in your chair in complete relaxation!:moustache:

Cheers to music!
