This is the stupidest person I've ever met on the internet. · 12:33am Oct 7th, 2015

Not even on FIMfiction! No, that goes to someone else. I mean on the internet in general. Okay, so everyone knows how good Chrono Trigger is, right? Even if someone hasn't played it, they can still at least respect it for its innovative combat system and multiple endings. Oh, and you can kill the mega bitch in the game three times, so that's a plus.

A DS remake was made a while back that was just as awesome as the original, if not better. What's the thing to say, naturally? Why nothing short of an insult to everyone who's played the game. Take a gander at what I found on Metacritic:

Grossly overrated. Having not played the original I can only assume it hasn't aged well. A game's is "depth" is only one factor. The gameplay is repetitive and the story is lackluster. Not only that but the game is missing the one feature of the original that could have brought this game up to a 7 for me: Co-op. When you play through a game with someone it can make up for tedious gameplay and alters the experience entirely. It's a shame to see so many respected reviewers using such nostalgia bias in their reviews. Although the remake (not reinterpretation) of a game from nearly 15 years ago suggested that it would be heavily reliant on nostalgia.

Has this guy even played Chrono Trigger? Or is he too brain dead to understand the awesomeness and, dare I say it, importance of the game? Whatever the reason, I think we can all agree this is one idiot I would rather never see again.

He's stupid for having a different opinion than you? Besides, if you like the game already why are you looking up reviews of it...? O_O

I've never played the game though I've never heard anything bad about it. IN fact his review of it is a first. I could respect his opinion until he brought up co-op:facehoof:. Not every game in existence needs co-op!

3448303
That's not the point, sir. It's not just my opinion, it's pretty much all RPG fanatic's opinion. This guy just blurted out about a game he didn't even know about, and frankly, that's kind of insulting.

I like going around and looking at reviews of games sometimes. Doesn't everyone?

Kamek if there's one thing that I have learned over the years it's that people will have a different opinion so please calm down and truly think about what you're saying.

3448322
Yeah, RPGs are usually single-player. :applejackunsure:

3448331
I think you need to play Chrono Trigger to understand where I'm coming from on this. :rainbowlaugh:

3448337 That is probably true but I do have one question, how could you play co-op? A verses match I can understand but how would you do that?

Yeah you are being a little feisty. It's ok just keep going. It'll be ok  deep breaths

3448329

This guy just blurted out about a game he didn't even know about, and frankly, that's kind of insulting.

Yeah....how dare he review a game on a review-based website. And, considering what you quoted from him, he actually does know about it, and you just disagree with him.

3448366
Why are you trying to start something? Please leave.

wow that's what is wrong with current gaming i dont know coop is nice but not everything needs and CT is a masterpiece that doesn't need it, i have only played the original and now i am playing the ff4 remake but i will find time to get to the CTds remake

3448357
*in* *out*...
Okay, I feel better now. Though, I am still a little pissed...

3448352
You can't. That's the thing with this review: his thoughts and points are questionably dumb. You can't have coop in a JRPG if the sole purpose of the game is to have a single-player campaign and nothing more.

Pokemon is okay because that was designed so you could have multiple players. Chrono Trigger is not. What would you do with coop anyway? Trade weapons? No, that'd be OP. Trade... um... no, that's all I got. Coop would just be dumb. :applejackunsure:

3448369 I'm not trying to start something. I'm just trying to explain that just because you don't agree with his opinion doesn't make him stupid.

3448370
Exactly my point! :pinkiegasp:

3448374
*deep breath*
Okay... Okay, I understand. Thank you.

3448379 Sorry if I came across rude. I have a habit of seeming jaded through text.

3448329 A person can have an unpopular opinion, for God's sake! :twilightangry2:

3448384
No, no, it's fine. I have a habit of freaking out over spilled milk sometimes...
...even if his review was still dumb... :twilightangry2:

3448400 :moustache::moustache::moustache: Everyone gets a stache!

Yes, this reviewer is being stupid for many reasons. First off, at the time Chrono Trigger was made I do not believe it was like any other game available. I wouldn't say it was revolutionary or anything, but it had so very much going for it. It was simple enough that kids understood what was happening within the game, but it had a level of complexity that went beyond for the older crowd. It had a very popular artist of it's era doing the character designs as well. Back then it was rare for Toriyama to do anything that wasn't entirely his own creation.
It had multiple endings that stemmed from in-game decisions that were entirely optional, which was a rare thing for games of it's era as well. It also made use of the time travel aspect in the game to add optional cause and effect quests. You didn't have to save the southern forest in the medieval era from turning into a desert, but you could and were rewarded for doing so not just with loot or exp, but with added story and background about the characters you couldn't discover any other way. It was things like this that made the game's replay value worth it.
I'll admit that Chrono Trigger fans ride on a nostalgia high when talking about it and like anything in the past, it is quite over-romanticized. It still doesn't make this reviewer any less stupid to say all he did without even playing the game. Some of those over-used tropes he eludes to this game using were kinda started by this game. So you can't really say it's lackluster without providing proof of opinion. Contrary to popular belief, opinions can be wrong.

I've never played Chrono Trigger, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Interesting side note, everyone who worked on the game went on to make some of the most memorable games out there. Final Fantasy and Blue Dragon wouldn't happened without Chrono Trigger, why you ask, because the guys that worked as a team on Chrono Trigger left to do other projects and those are two of the games that were born out its genius. So, in a way, Chrono Trigger is the Cool Dad or Awesome Grandpa of the Final Fantasy series, let that sink have into your heads heads for a moment.

3448522
But did YOU know that the composer for Final Fantasy helped on the soundtrack? Oh, also the director of Final Fantasy and the creator of Dragon Quest as well as the animator for Dragon Ball Z worked on this game as well.

The dream team made the dream game. :rainbowkiss:

3448483
I agree with every word you spoke, good... um... sir? Ma'am? It? Drunk pony? Either one, I agree with you. :ajsmug:

3448563 And yet I can't find it on Steam for some forsaken reason.

RPG PLAYERS UNITE.

An ignorant soul has defiled the name of greatness and must be Punished. By decree of Crono, Terra Branford and kefka palazzo. Go forth and bring closure to this moment of sorrow.

3448569
Partly because it's an SNES title and is actually available on the DS, Wii-shop, Wii-U e-shop, online emulator (unofficially), and so on. If you have a 3DS, the DS one is probably your best bet. Unless you want to play it on a Wii or Wii-U.

3448570
Hey... This actually gives me an idea... :ajsmug:

Co-op? in a strategy RPG? Might as well play chess with four players :facehoof:

3448580
Ha! Yeah... But, Sheldon Cooper actually made a legit three-player chess before. (Big Bang Theory)

3448580

Yeah, that seems a bit on the... awful side. :rainbowhuh:

3448630 I know but that's confusing as hell

3448656

Oooooooooooooooooh :rainbowkiss:

3448577

An Idea. Hmm now I'm interested

He's *never played* the *original* but talks about how the remake was missing that *one element* of the *original game he never played* missing Co-op?

Holy shit. In all my years I never even knew it HAD such an option in the original. Me and my friend mostly just played it together switching over controllers every now and then. Is that co-op enough? Because, yeah, playing any game can change how much fun or not fun something can be with another person. But WHAT in the world would make them suddenly LOVE a game they WANT TO HATE?

This is the problem with people raised on 3D games. Plot? That's subjective, he can hate the plot all he wants. Game play? Apologies for not having a first person view mode. They sound like the exact type of person that buys a ton of games and don't spend more than minutes at a time on them before jumping back onto COD or something equally stupid.
