    UK Elections

    Congratulations, Brits.

I was rooting for the Elmo cosplayer, but the Trump cosplayer seems nice. The tweet salt is quite fantastic, gonna mine me some for a while.

    The Outer Worlds

I got the game because it looked like the Fallout fix I needed. Obsidian, who made New Vegas, made it. It looked like Space Fallout and had a lot of similarities. Waited for the Black Friday sale, then grabbed it for $48. Thanks for the holiday, you turkey-eating Americans.

What's Going On · 4:04am Oct 5th, 2015

What's with the avatar?

It's October. Everyone's skulling up, so I might as well join, and...well...

What's with the Bloodborne crossover?

It's been something I was thinking of for quite a while. I wanted to write something that would:

a. Have nothing to do with the Upheaval series.
b. Incorporate canon elements beyond season 2.
c. Write an actual crossover with a Souls game.

Some smartass will probably say "Well, now that you're writing a Souls game crossover, does that mean you're not going to include so many Souls references in Upheaval?"

The answer is no.

What's next?

Next chapter of Undone by the Blood.

To be entirely honest, from the thumbnail I thought it was a picture of Sans from Undertale. Neato though, I'll be interested to see what the story is like.

Try as we might, no one can escape their inevitable draft into the Skeleton War.

All joking aside after reading the first chapter of Undone by the Blood I've been inspired to replay Bloodborne. Trying out a bloodtinge build this time around...damn I miss my stake driver. (T-T)

I like to believe that in the Souls universe, families traditionally leave offerings for Nito outside their homes to keep him away, and if they don't please him, then Nito visits the family plot to take all the skeletons for his collection.

Gotta leave out those walnuts, kids, or else grandma's gotta go serve in the army of the dead.

Bloodtinge is useless until you get the Chikage, or luck into some good gems... which only really show up in the deeper chalice dungeons. That's my only complaint about Bloodborne: the bloodtinge and arcane are kinda shit. Even leveled up to 50 Arcane, the most powerful spell, A Call Beyond, doesn't do any damage that couldn't be done with a strength build weapon.

I just started Dark Souls 2 this weekend, and I miss the fluid combat of Bloodborne every second. That, and the ability to summon help wherever, whenever. Fuck hollowing...

Oh my God! It's developing a personality.

Hey now, don't be dissin' the bloodtinge. The build can survive on some minimal skill until you complete Cainhurst. An upgraded Evelyn with high bloodtinge becomes a reliable source of damage in addition to parries. I've shredded bosses very quickly with the Chikage's two-handed form thanks to both the ridiculously high scaling and the built in rapid poison. Strength and Skill builds are effective and reliable, but there's something attractive in wielding an incredibly powerful sword that's sucking your own life every second.

I don't build arcane for Call from Beyond which is the very essence of awesome but impractical. It is fun managing elemental weapons. The DLC looks like it's going to provide arcane builds some more reliable attacks.

I bought the Ps4 version of DS2 after playing Bloodborne, and it felt like I was stuck in a permanent slow motion event. Do note that you're playing a slightly dolled up version of a Ps3 game supposedly made by Fromsoft's B team. It still has its charm regardless.

And you summon? Git Gud, Casul.

Not just grandma. Do you have a stillborn baby buried there? Nito's tossing him in his pool of skeleton babies.

The infinite pool of skeleton babies. Lordran's infant mortality rate must be incredible. And the worst part is that baby skeletons don't even make good soldiers. They're little! They can't use the falchions! And they won't ever grow, either. So part two of my headcanon is that Nito uses the baby skeletons as toothpicks, and that pool outside the tomb is his garbage can. Which is also why all the Pinwheels are there.

Hey, I said Bloodtinge becomes viable once you get to Cainhurst! But even still, a Strength build with a +10 Ludwig's Holy Blade is where it's at. Actually, I've lately fallen in love with the Beast Claws. They're basically the Blades of Mercy scaled with strength. At +10 in transformed mode, I'm slaying shit. Not very good for PvP, unless you have an ally that can distract and let you get close since they have shit range, but goddamn. Every other hit staggers, so I can stun-lock most enemies into oblivion.

Yeah, yeah, Imma filthy casual. But DS2 just feels so much more unforgiving, and for serious, fuck the hollowing mechanic. I got the Ring of Binding, so it's not that bad, but still. At least your weapons repair after every death, so I don't have to make a run to the Lecture Hall every other run so I can repair my Tonitrus, piece of shit. I don't know, I've heard that DS3 will have slightly faster combat, similar to Bloodborne, but not near as fast. DS2 just feels like a step backwards, which I guess it is. Plus, there's way too much depth to the leveling mechanic. BB is easy. SImple stats, you can see what they do, and the limited number of weapons means you can early on see the weapon you like and build around it. I still don't know how I want to build my character in DS2, and I'm at that dark mage with the two little bitches that spam lightning and healing. I can get faith, strength, dex, et all, but Adaptability? Poise?

Plus, I don't know if faith is worth leveling up. Like, is there a list of weapons that I can find that will let me know if a S/D/F build is worth it? Ugh, I think it just may be too much for me...

You're in luck, the dlc is supposedly buffing the beast claws.

The stats may be slightly confusing in DS2 but note that the game allows you to re-spec by taking a soul vessel to the old ladies in things betwixt (an option BB opted not to have) so don't be afraid to play around with stats.

Adaptability (and attunement) raises AGI which slightly improves how fast you chug estus and how many I-frames your roll has. Poise helps you avoid being stunlocked. The wiki does have a list of weapons if you need it. I like using Faith builds. If a weapon has decent lightning scaling or even fire scaling, it will work well with faith. Just don't be like DSP and use lightning spears as a crutch.

Awesome. Now I just have to find a place to farm some souls...

Tight.
