Some of you may have noted that I'm currently writing a story set in a slightly altered version of the Equestria Girls universe. Further, some of you may have noted that I've been minimizing my exposure to the actual EG movies to broad plot outlines, so as to avoid any temptation to make choices that might make Transdementia seem like a "Fix Fic," (one of my least favorite fanfiction tropes, by the way). Thus, I was somewhat surprised to learn that the third such movie had already been released; in fact, I mostly deduced it from the stories popping up in the Feature Box. I bring this up because, from what I can tell, it now seems that the most significant deviation that this story has from the EG movies is not any of the cosmetic changes regarding the backgrounds of the characters, but rather the way magic works (or fails to work) in the human world. When this is all said and done, I just might have to watch these movies to see what DHX is actually doing.
In any case, I recently finished Chapter 6, and I hope to post it later tonight.
If you ever decide to watch the second Equestria Girls, I recommend following it up with Cafeteria Control by Justice(three numbers I can't remember).
Actually, you could probably do that just from watching the trailers, that's how he wrote the fic, afterall. It actually came out before the movie. And it is glorious crack, as long as you don't mind people being turned into parodies of themselves for stupid jokes.
Seeing as your story isn't crack, it's a lot more surprising that it works so well without direct exposure to the source material (frankly, so far I was unable to tell you hadn't seen it).
