Blog Post about the Dazzlings (I seriously need to get this off my chest) · 3:50pm Sep 25th, 2015

I tried to think of something that makes it look like Adagio is actually more developed in screen time then Aria and Sonata. Anything.
I found nothing.
The Dazzlings are all on screen together, they all get a pretty decent amount of speaking lines and the only time Sonata isn't present is when Aria and Adagio head up to Trixie.
And yet, out of the three of them, there is one of them who is developed as a character so much more than the other two.
And no, it's not Adagio.

Adagio is actually quite a simple character to understand. She's evil, she's smart and she gets irritated very easily. Sonata and Aria get on her nerves a lot because they seem dumb, especially around her. But because she clearly sprouts evil, she's quite easy to imagine evil and therefore any pictures of Adagio being evil become stale after a while; because we're used to seeing her that way. Show everyone a picture of Adagio tsundere (blushing, denial type), moe (cute) or anything other than her usual self and: :raritystarry:
She's clearly and obviously the ringleader of the group, but since she seems to be only focused on power and getting back home, we don't really get much of an established character. In other words: what would Adagio be like if power wasn't her main focus?

Moving onto Aria, the only character in the movie whose name is never said.
Ever.
Do we know much about her? No. And that's mainly because Aria doesn't really have much of a purpose - take her out of the movie and nothing will change. Even Sonata helps in some weird way but Aria just....she's just there. There isn't much to say on her. She's moody.
Aria mad?

Finally, we're up to Sonata!
Literally the most established character out of the three.
No joke.
This is because she's the only one who has a character outside of power. There is no explanation as to why Sonata acts the way she does when she's not preforming her evil acts.
When we first see Sonata, she's cute
When we see her again, she's cute
We only see her as a cute, airhead for most of the start of the movie. I mean, for goodness sake, she was smiling when the Dazzlings first met Sunset Shimmer.

Then.
She sings.
And although we can't really hear her voice, Sonata is the low tone.
She sings low.
And if you focus more on Sonata's movements then Aria's or Adagio's, you could possibly get the same reaction I did:
Sonata is sexy.

Looking at Adagio and Aria probably won't get this reaction, I mean, they are sexy, but haven't they always been? You'd expect someone like Adagio to look sexy, but Sonata?
See now?
And every. Single. Time. The Dazzlings smirk, once again, it's expected from Aria and Adagio.

Adagio and Aria look normal.
Sonata looks TERRIFYING.
It's basically the same reaction I get from seeing Pinkie Pie glaring at Sunset Shimmer after she knocks Rainbow Dash down during Awesome as I wanna be.
Sonata looks TERRIFYING.
Everyone pictures Sonata being the easy one to reform, quickly going over to the good side and accepting the human ways. Heck, even I thought that!
But I seriously we need to rethink that, because if Sonata is classed as the evil version of Pinkie, just imagine what she'll do (Pinkamena, I'm looking at you).
Sonata seemed like the most clever of them all. Sonata could probably have pulled this off on her own, and I'm not bluffing.
We see Sonata cute, quirky, dumb, but truthfully, Sonata is evil. And not Adagio evil. Seriously evil. Putting on the character of cute, she managed to fool Adagio and Aria for goodness sake! Sonata is pure evil. She seems like the perfect girl to pretend to be nice, and become friends with everybody, then go around killing them all secretly in the middle of the night because she is evil.
How many times am I gonna say that? XD

Point being; Adagio and Aria are evil, moody and pretty basic (and Adagio is pretty smart I guess)
Sonata is cute, sexy, clever AND evil. I bet she'd probably let Adagio take over the world her, then steal all the magic for herself, because she seems like the type to do it.

Sonata is EVIL.

And best Dazzling.

Remember that now

It is forever welded into my brain. Finally someone who actually sees Sonata for what she is: the best Dazzling!:yay:

*reads this
You're still awake?! (We could have been talking half this time! :fluttercry:)

But yes. Yes to all this. She is a great character, and there's a brilliant contrast between her cute exterior and her evil interior.

I still like Adagio better though — she sexy.

:pinkiegasp: Yay! :pinkiehappy: *hugs* Sonata rules people!
I was just going through Rainbow Rocks frame by frame and came across this:

I swear to Celestia the look on her face still scares the living daylights out of me XD

Heh. I was just about to go to sleep now.
I couldn't wait though! The feeling of expressing my love for Sonata was too great!
Goodnight!

I know. Sometimes it's important to get an expression of love off your chest.
Goodnight!

3418861 GAH!:twilightoops: IKR? She's cute and at the same time, you probably don't want to see her pissed. Awesome character by all standards!:yay:

There are so more words to describe how awesome she is :pinkiehappy:

3419363 No. No there are not. Jusr for this, she's going to have an important role in my story soon.:pinkiehappy:

3419379
OOh really? Which one?

3419542 Most likely Rise and Fall. It's a supernatural fix (vampires, werewolves, witches, etc). Guess I finally found how to get Sirens in there and who's gonna be my main!:pinkiehappy: Also, maybe I could fit her into Heroes of Harmony (people with superpowers) and another upcoming story I'm working on. She too awesome to not fit the roles I have planned.:pinkiecrazy:
