So, new episode... (Canterlot Boutique) · 8:31pm Sep 12th, 2015

AND for once, I cought it while it's fresh.

My thoughts on Canterlot Boutique after the cut.

Wow, a person in the fashion industry being a spot-light stealing glory hog?

Truly, the muses have worked over-time on that one.

Sarcasm aside, I think I like Sassy Saddles. Hell, bit of ego aside, the girls ten times the sale's mare then Rarity and Applejack are combined.

:raritydespair: :ajbemused:

Oh hush, voices in my head fan boys/girls. The farm mare whose rousing business is run from a wooden box at the market and thought she could compete with a free five star buffet , and her friend the unicorn that let her friends with no fashion experience redesign the dresses for a make-or-break show of her entire career?

Yeah... I love both characters, but captains of Equestrian industry neither mare sure ain't.

But that improvised presentation Sassy did? Holy hell, I know magic's quite the helper but almost enough for me to go buy a dress.

Truly, only the manliest of men and Inuyasha may wear red so well.

The weird asides my brain goes to aside, I did really, really like Sassy Saddles. Rare to see a character in fiction that's ten shades of ambitious and driven like that and doesn't get dive-tackled to have 'bad guy' stamped onto their forehead. Let alone a female one.

I do hope we get to see more of her. She seems like a genuinely interesting character. :raritystarry:

The song, though? Meh. Decent, but no 'Art of the Dress.' Interesting look into Rarity's character, though.

Just fascinating contrast with Sassy. Artistry and perfectionism, versus a broader, more mass-market and success driven approach. The wish to make one perfect dress versus the wish to make that one perfect design if you will.

Neither is wrong, and both approaches to fashion have pros and cons. A very mature but delicate to get right way to tell a story.

I will admit, the first half or so of this episode near bored me enough to go do something else, but I'm really glad I gave it a chance. On the whole it was a beautiful and rather heartfelt little story about two artist clashing but ultimately learning from each other.

Not my favorite episode by any means, but a really strong start for the second half of season five. :raritywink:

I am neutral on the episode, but I am pretty amused that there are still people who remember VGCats. :derpytongue2:

I like VGCats.

Appalling update schedule even by my rather lax standards, but its a fun little comic.

Oh man, I would love to see more Sassy. She did market research! She had a 6-step business plan that integrated advertising, promotions, events marketing, and scaling capacity! Here's the role model young women need!
