Miss Koi Reviews "Canterlot Boutique"

Good news is...Season 5 is back! And we're coming back from the hiatus with a great Rarity episode!:D
Bad news is...I have a cold:( Little headache here and there, a little cough here and there, stuffy nose and throat, and I sounded like Gonzo from the Muppets:P

I was excited for this episode not only because it was a Rarity episode and because of the hiatus, but also because....DR.WOLF PREDICTED THIS EPISODE!:D

To be fair, he didn't predict everything that happened in this episode. There are great differences, but the goals between his version and this episode was pretty much the same. What if Rarity had a boutique in Canterlot? How would she handle the responsibility of opening a new store? Would she lose her love for making fashion and art in the mist of these Canterlot ponies ordering too much from her?
This episode, in my opinion, does a pretty good job of handling and answering these questions:)
One of the biggest unexpected surprises to come from this episode is a new character named Sassy Saddles.

I swear these pony names are just becoming too much for me! And her appearance just puts an over the top topper on the cake:D
However, she's not a sassy character but rather the combination of Suri Polomare and Trixie. She's egotistical, driven, hard working, almost Twilight Type A character. She's not a villain nor a good guy (even though the ending depicts her as a now reformed bad guy). She was Rarity's assistant in this episode helping her Canterlot Boutique to become a big success. Awww, I wanted Coco to become Rarity's assistant:(

SPOILER ALERT!: Oh well, at least I get to see her later in Season 5;)
Anyway, Sassy's true motivation throughout the episode was to live through Rarity's success and even claim Rarity's boutique as her own. She even accidentally admits in the episode:0 She even accidentally admits that she has been fired before multiple times from her previous assistants jobs:0 Oh snap Rarity! Why did u hire this chick?! How could u not know about this sketchy past? Hmm, maybe Rarity did. But because of Rarity's kind and generous nature that is able to see the good in hard working and driven mares like Sassy, Rarity gave her a chance. THAT'S MY HEADCANON AND I'M STICKING TO IT!
Anyway, because of Sassy's accidental confession bursts, it makes me wonder about her backstory. What if Sassy always wanted to be a fashion designer but wasn't good at making clothes? So, she had to rely on her other strengths like her people skills or her business savvy skills in order to get close to the fashion world and live on the success of others? Fanfic writers get on this please!
The second part of the episode had me on the edge of my seat when Rarity and Sassy had their fight:0 I was cheering with Rarity and shouting at the TV in my froggy voice, lol! Their fight reminded me of this...only more polished and no actual violence and Rarity was winning;)

Fight over, Rarity won and I was like to Sassy...

Haha lol;P!
Anywho, this episode gave this great depth to Rarity's character. We find out that Rarity makes fashion and art to see the reaction on ponies' faces and make them feel special and unique just like each special and unique garment she makes. Rarity realizes that her dream of having a famous Canterlot Boutique doesn't match with her passion. She can't mass produce clothes that look the same nor does she want an assembly line doing all her work. She likes the creative process and sewing and doing the work herself. She had been a small boutique designer for so long that...this is the only way she create fashion and clothes. At first, I thought this episode was going to end with Rarity closing the Canterlot Boutique. But then they reached a..."comprise"...I don't know if this was the smartest move...but Rarity still keeps the shop in Canterlot but have Sassy run it. Ummm, Rarity? I know that she said her sorry and all but...don't you think it's a little soon to give her your trust? Especially to run your shop? Should you at least have somepony supervise her? No...um okay then? Well, Rarity still makes the clothes either way so I guess it's okay.
Anyway, LOVE LOVE LOVE Rarity's new dresses!:D It's Suited for Success happy feeling of seeing awesome dresses all over again! Love the Luna inspired dress, the Princess twilight stain glass dress, and the lotus flower dress! Especially the lotus flower dress! I would love to see my OC persona in that dress<3
The song in this episode, can't remember the name, was pretty good. Definitely similar to the Art of the Dress song, but it was nice to have more songs in Season 5:)
Overall score, 8 hearts out of 10!<3

I thought Sassy Saddles was merely bland, but I had the face of Pinkie Pie (Episode 1) when i saw Sassy each time.

Anyways, hope you feel better, a backstory will be coming up soon for my OC. :)

The one thing that struck me first was that she actually was wearing a saddle. X3 That's like... wearing lingerie in public. XD

Hmm... i guess that does make her really sassy! XD

Well, I don't know about that
In the first saddle, Rarity put Twilight in a glittering saddle outfit and when Twilight saw her outfit in the mirror, she liked it and admired it as a clothing outfit not as lingerie. Besides, Spike was in the room with her also applying that it was an outfit not underwear. Twilight would freak out if Rarity put her in a lingerie outfit, so because she didn't freak out, I don't think saddles are underwear.
