This new episode was fun. Plenty of new background ponies and minor characters to enjoy. My favorite new addition is somewhere between the goth pony and fabulously gay Fashion Plate.

It did kinda resolve itself pretty quickly and shittily, though. I think it should have gone through a few more drafts. Also Pinkie Pie was only used for punchlines here, and that was kinda annoying because inasofar this season Pinkie Pie has been avoiding being that pointless of a character. I think you could take out almost every Pinkie Pie line in this episode and it wouldn't have changed a bit. It was a weak Rariepisode, hardly anything on the scale or gun of Sweet and Elite or Rarity Takes Manehattan.
Still, it was a fun time. I'm glad ponies are back in season. Let's get the fanfic machine a running!

The first half of the season was as good as it was because M.A. Larson was the story editor. We're back to Meghan McCarthy now, so expect things to go back down to season 3 and 4 levels of quality (things like "Pinkie Pie is only a gag character unless the episode is about her" being one of her signatures.)
