It's true. Seriously.
I can understand why people write and read clop fictions. In my own opinion, it's because most people are perverted and want the fantasy of bestiality without crossing the line. But also because we treat anything with a vagina as a sex object, people automatically want to stick their dicks or other body parts into it.
People will read what they want to read and nothing I say will ever stop that. Just because it's my opinion doesn't mean I'm correct. I could be wrong. Maybe I just don't understand the social norms of fanfiction, or maybe I'm just out of touch. But it is a serious pet peeve of mine when I go to the feature box and 5/10 it has mature/sex content and during these times, I honestly believe that the world only values sex and fame. I'm not so sure how fame ended up there, but you get my drift.
I'm probably just ranting and nothing I have to say is original or shocking. Can I hear your opinions? Maybe it will make me feel more vindicated in my opinion. Or maybe it will reaffirm the proposition that nothing outside of sex is valued anymore.
There's some truth in the adage "Sex sells." Some seem to take it as a sad fact of life whereas others choose to run with it.
Personally, don't deprecate cloppers for what their sexual interests, but I also generally don't care what most people are into sexually. I don't make it my business, and I always have other things to worry about, anyway.
Judging by the discussions I've had with the few cloppers I do know, I doubt a significant number of people who partake in it would seriously consider having coital relations with any real animal, but there are things, as you mention, that seem to blur the line between just peculiar perversion in sexual taste and bestiality.
I've actually heard from a non-Brony friend that she does not condone Bronies because, collectively, we sexualize otherwise strong, female characters with our "pony erotica," as I prefer to term it.
I do believe that there are lines being crossed with clop. Of course, where there's pornography, there generally is. I try not to think too hard about it although it strikes me that cloppers would try to avoid thinking to hard about the fact that they're taking pleasure from characters that are ponies, animals, by script. I myself do not have a strong opinion, though; I've come to terms with the phenomenon and can stand to tolerate it, despite what apprehensions I have.
I think it's sad. Not enough people are focusing on the right things. We should be focused on what love truly is - a person caring for another enough to sacrifice to make their other's day better. Being loyal to your spouse, partner, whatever you want to call it. Love is supposed to be about giving. I think cloppers (and the perverse in general) are focused to much on getting. On taking things for themselves, and leaving their spouse/partner/whatever on their face in the dirt.
If I may make a reference no one will get, "The problem with the galaxy is not enough people help each other". I may have that wrong, I put it there from memory.
