Been a Brony since early season 4. I do a bit of art, a bit of reading and a smidge of...pretty much anything else; jack of all trades but master of none, that sort of thing

    Pegasi sub-races

Do you think all Pegasi have the same wing type (e.g. Pegasus wings), or are there different sub-types of wings like there are with birds (e.g. owl, hummingbird, sea-fowl, birds of prey, etc.)?

Do you think all Pegasi have the same wing type (e.g. Pegasus wings), or are there different sub-types of wings like there are with birds (e.g. owl, hummingbird, sea-fowl, birds of prey, etc.)?

I have been thinking about doing another OC drawing, and the character I wanted is a bit of a sneak-thief. So, as I was surfing the inter-webs for reference images, I came across some information on owls. Most species of owl have wings that produce an oil that coats their feathers and makes them virtually silent while flying. Naturally, I found this to be the perfect choice for my characters wing style.

But then I got to thinking; Scootaloo's wings produce a buzzing sound like a hummingbird's while Rainbow Dash sounds more like a jet turbine while she's at top speed. None of the pegasi in the show are silent flyers (except maybe Fluttershy), so is there some sort of variance amongst the Pegasus race? Does an owl Pegasus differ from a Falcon Pegasus in more ways than just wing type? Are there possible variations of the other races and species of the show? Could Griffins that live closer to the sea have more seabird-like characteristics than their forest or mountain dwelling cousins? Could there be whole races of changeling that feed on different emotions?

I'd like to know what you guys think. Leave any comments, suggestions, or other feedback in the comment section.
