Remember those days when I pumped out one chapter every few days? Yeah...

When we hit a more interesting topic for me personally, I'll probably be able to update more frequently. As it stands, though...uggh...

[CLOSED] Nineteenth Century: The Saga of Equestria Voting: Round 1 · 12:43am Aug 30th, 2015

Greetings, fellow bronies and pegasisters, and welcome to the first ever voting round for the The Nineteenth Century, the first installation in the Saga of Equestria series!

It is said that one of the most important things for a nation is it's national anthem. A good one can instill a sense of nationalism and patriotic fervor for it's citizens, reinforce national ideas, and just make citizens proud and happy.

Now, as Equestria approaches westernization in the story, it seems only appropriate that our nation has an anthem, as well. I have narrowed the list down to three candidates, and would like your input. Please vote on your favorite below; voting will close on September 20th!

1) A march-ish style piece, very patriotic and bold.

2) A hymn-style piece, more subdued than 1 but still extremely patrotic. This one reflects more on the ideas of Equestria, and reinforces the unity within the land. (My personal favorite.)

3) Finally, this piece is less of a national anthem, and more of a praise to the Princesses, particularly Celestia and Luna. Be warned - the organ covers of the singer's voice, so turn on annotations for the lyrics. Based off of "Rule, Britannia," which is a slight turn off for me.

So, yeah. Vote for 1, 2, or 3 below!

Yours in all things Pony,

By a vote of 5-4, Number 2 won!

I'd probably choose 2) while keeping 3) as a royal anthem, though my personal headcanon is that the anthem would be an adapted popular song (like the German national anthem, or what Waltzing Matilda almost was for Australia).

I vote for two.
Though I'd honestly think it would be something like this. (Except, ya know, pony-like)

I actually do have an anthem somewhat like that lined up in case Equestria goes ultra-reactionary and becomes the Celestial Empire. Not sure if I'll go that route, 'cause I prefer Nice-elstia, but we will see...

Got to go with 2. I agree with Starswirl that number three would be a royal anthem, and I think that number one just doesn't have the feel of a national anthem. Heck, it doesn't even name the country. It's more of a hymn/march of values.

That said, what we have here with number two would probably be a more formal performance version of the anthem. I couldn't imagine this being performed in this grandiose a style at, say, a hoofball game. But the melody and lyrics definitely work for a national anthem.

Logged. Thank you!

Though, I should mention that the anthem of the United States doesn't mention the country by name...

Okay.

I want to vote as thus.

number 2 should be the anthem, it just feels good.

Number 1 I could see more as a something that is just as old and at times is used, or at least the music part. Kind of like Waltzing Matilda or Yankee Doodle. (That is how it sounds to me, but it could be a close second for anthem.)

And number 3 I do agree, it sounds more like a royal anthem for the sisters.

That is how my voting shall stand.

Wow, number 2 is kicking flank at the polls...not that I'm complaining...

Thanks for voting!

3356999 ... oh. Huh. So it doesn't. Well, that's egg on my face, isn't it. Weird. Anyway, looking forward to your next chapter!

Number 1. Number two does not have enough song and number three is more extreme or imported from Britain.

Two votes for number one are logged, then!

I would say Number 1, that one has my vote.

I am going with Number 2 as the official anthem.:moustache:
It sounds wonderful, fits the philosophy Equestria stands for (as you mentioned), and the title 'Evening Star' just has so much meaning behind it.

3367441
Evening Star is the name of the composer, not the song... The song's official name is "Land of Equestria."
But, yeah, other than that, I agree. Just...all them feels.

One vote for number 1!
