Wibbly Wobbly Continuity Solution!!! · 12:28am Aug 30th, 2015
So, I'm a massive continuity buff, and try to make most of my stories fit into the set timeline. For example, when writing Doctor Whooves, I try to make the stories fit into both the MLP continuity line, as well as the Doctor Who timeline.
However, I completely destroy the set Equestria Girls timeline in Doctor Whooves 6, 7, 8, and 9, all which are in the production of being written. (Reason being is when I figure out a plot point for a certain story, I write it. Thus, my writing is all over the place, and it takes either a really long time for a story to be finished, or a really short amount of time. Examples of this include 2014's Christmas Special, An Equestria Girls Christmas Carol. I wrote that story in a week, and, while not being overly fond of the results, I did enjoy writing it. Doctor Whooves takes considerably longer, as they are more difficult to write, and, when I come up with a story, I begin writing it. For example, Doctor Whooves 7 and 8 are mostly finished, but 6 is still in the process of being written.)
Back to the continuity error, I made the Doctor Whooves stories fit into the Rainbow Rocks established timeline, and fits therein, with human Twilight, as well as the Dazzlings making their return in 8. (spoilers)
However, because I used the ability of Poetic License, it doesn't fit into the Friendship Games plotline. For me, this causes a personal issue, as I'd like it to fit into both canon timelines.
Doctor Who is a bit easier to use, as it's more malleable, since the Doctor spends time travelling alone, and there are times where we just don't know what he's up to. for example, in the Tennant episode The Waters of Mars, the Doctor is 904. In the following episode, The End of Time, the Doctor says he's 906, and throughout series 5, he's 907. This leaves about 2 years of free space. Thus, in the Doctor Whooves storylines, the 10th Doctor is 905. Another example, is that in the beginning of series 6, the Doctor says he's 909, and the last time Amy and Rory saw him, he was 907. There's 2 years gap. And, also in series 6, there's the fact that he's 909 in the series beginning, but, he's about 1200 in the end of the season, as established by the future Doctor in The Impossible Astronaut. That leaves roughly 300 years of space to fill in. And, there's still the time he spent away from Amy and Rory in series 7, the time he spent looking for Clara between The Snowmen and The Bells of St. John, and the time he spends away from Clara in series 7, and series 8, and what he was doing before he encounter Clara again the Last Christmas.
I'm rambling, I need to get back to the continuity topic. Whilst the Doctor Whooves stories fit into the Doctor Who timeline, they don't fit into the MLP timeline. More specifically the EQG timeline.
So, I've been working on a way to rectify this. After careful studying, and a lot of research, I've been able to figure out how to fix it.
This includes both the Doctor, and his Equestrian counterpart, established in Doctor Whooves 6.
Basically, it all winds down to parallel universes. As established in Doctor Who, parallel universes are canon, and can be accessed when the universe is cracking apart, and when there are holes in the fabric of reality.
So, the Friendship Games timeline is a parallel universe. One where the Doctor never found Equestria, and never encounter Twilight, and Sunset, and others. It features minor alterations, like human Twilight's status at Crystal Prep, or Sunset's sudden outfit change, and hair saturation change in Friendship Games.
This explains a lot, and I've been able to fit this into the Doctor Whooves stories.
You see, each Doctor Whooves 'series' leads up to something. Series 1, which consists of 1,2, and 3, all lead up to the Doctor's confrontation with the Master in the Crystal Empire. Series 2 leads to the confrontation with Omega in number 6. Thus, starting with Doctor Whooves 7, a new plot line will begin all leading up to the parallel universe coming to light.
Whilst Doctor Whooves 7 will still be considered apart of series 2, and it won't be until series 3 that the plot point goes into depth, this will explain several things. My continuity error, as well as Sunset's alternate appearance in Friendship Games.
What do you guys think?
Will this work?
Does it make any sense at all?
