    Glowmelon edits

Finally got around to addressing all/the majority of the comma problems in the fic that dealt with quoted dialogue and direct addresses. Could have sworn I already fixed those issues before, but oh well! The edits didn't take long to make, so I felt it was worth my time. Especially since I'll hopefully have the first chapter of the sequel out before the end of the year...

    Surprise Release, "Lyra's Silly Dream"!

Just a couple blog posts ago, I said I probably wasn't going to upload my Subordinate Six "Lyra's Dream" story. Well, I certainly flip-flopped on that! I wanted to write more about dreams this week, but instead of starting a whole new story, I decided to expand "Lyra's Dream" into "Lyra's Silly Dream". I easily doubled the length, using my own experience with lucid dreaming and a few outside

"Dine and Derp" has been released!

Sorry that it probably wasn't worth the wait, but the first short story set in The Subordinate Six universe is now out. This story was nearly finished for almost a year, but kept getting put on the backburner due to jobs, college, and other miscellanea. I still think it's a dang funny story though, so of course I'm gonna recommend you read it, especially if you read "The Ensemble" in the past.

    Explanation for lack of stories

As of my last blog post, college is in full swing. You might have an inkling as to why I haven't updated here in a while. ;)

National Pony Writing Month - Day 1 & 2 Update · 10:14pm Aug 2nd, 2012

I've decided to start keeping track of my progress on National Pony Writing Month here. As you may know if you follow me, this is my first year participating. The goal is to have 50,000 words by the end of the month, which ends on the 31st. I'm writing an episodic long-fic which is tentatively titled "The Subordinate Six", which focuses on six non-mane cast ponies in their new or current home of Las Pegasus: those ponies are Lyra Heartstrings, Bon-Bon, Derpy Hooves, Vinyl Scratch/DJ PON-3, Octavia, and The Great and Powerful Trixie. I have enough episode synopses written to last me for twelve storylines, so provided the story finds an audience and continues to be fun for me to write, the story will continue on for quite some time.

My base goal for each day is 1,666 words, based on the calculation 50,000 words/30 days. That said, it's time for the progress update.

Day 1 Word Count: 0

... Oops. I ended up spending the day hanging out with a brony friend of mine, and didn't get anything done. I felt so bad about this though, that I started work extremely early the next day.

Day 2 Word Count: 956 + 786, 1742 words total

And by "extremely early", I mean I woke up at 1 am and started writing out an entire scene that occurs later on in the first storyline. Then a few hours ago, I wrote the entire prologue. Combining those two pieces, I met my word count for the day. I decided not to work overtime and write any more today to make up for yesterday, since my original word count calculation didn't take into effect that there are 31 days in the month of August. So I declare Day 1 a free day, and Day 2 a success.

When will this story be released?

Part of the National Pony Writing Month seems to be that the stories written are expected to be put online by the end of the month. However, since what I'm writing right now would be considered the rough draft, I'm not sure I would like to publish that here. I plan on getting this story featured on Equestria Daily, just like my previous fic, which will require extensive editing that will take quite a long time. And as I've learned from the re-write of "The Glowmelon Mystery", heavily editing a story that has already been published on FIMFiction wrecks hell with the viewer statistics.

Right now the plan is to continue writing the rough draft, and once the first storyline is finished (which should be completed well before the month ends), I'll send it off to my extremely talented editor so he can help me polish that first episode to a shine. My skills and pre-readers willing, episode one of "The Subordinate Six" should be online early September... I'll give you a few moments to finish singing the lyrics to The Living Tombstone song.

Okay, that about does it for today. Stay tuned for more updates, and message me if you'd like to be a part of the pre-reading process. I'm always hesitant to show off an unfinished story, but it's a good idea to get opinions on something before I'm committed to it.
