Xenoblade Finale - God Dies to a Fluffball · 5:11am Aug 2nd, 2015
Welp, Fimfiction user Shadowbot739 finally got around to finishing Xenoblade. I'm just gonna cut right to the chase. I don't wanna talk about the story much, because you can look that up. Lorathia is an ass, we go to prison island to fight Dickson, whose boss fight sucks, then we teleport to space and kill God. Not much more to it. What I want to talk about is how we played it.
We gave in to the fact melee vs Lorathia just is not happening. We payed for our insolence about once, though, and got her on our 2nd try with Melia, Sharla, and Fiora, and beat the crap out of her with no party deaths. All was good. So we went on to Prison Island and did some stuff there to try and track Dickson down. We found a raptor rare that had spike while not toppled, which is bullshit, and we eventually made our way to a dragon.
A dragon. What. Dragons come from literally out of no where and we just fight their king straight up as the one and only Dragon in the main story. Good. Good decision. Not to mention he has "anti-spike" as the dino had. That's what we call it; anti spike. Anyway, we went 3/3 heals for that fight after Melee Burst didn't work. Eventually got him down, but then oh then did we have some problems. Of course, the most problems we had in the whole game is the son of a dick himself.
Oh my god Dickson was so difficult. Paralysis everywhere so the battle lagged on forever, and then he spammed super powerful moves all the time but we were so slow we couldn't Res the party members that fell and oh god it was terrible. We eventually got Dunban, Shulk, and Reyn out and made Dunban evasion tank him to death. We literally had to kite him around the room for over 7 minutes in order to beat him. We even had to Line of Sight his attack via the stairs once. I wouldn't have it any other way, either. Dickson is a scoundrel, one of the worst in video game history, and it would only make sense if his boss battle was as dickish as he was. That boss was just ridiculous. IMO, easily the hardest boss in the game. Lorithia is piss easy if you use ether, but Dickson was just terrible no matter who you used. You couldn't outheal the huge damage and you're expected to cheat the system in order to beat him with anyone. What the heck.
Anyways, off to the topic the Xenoblade fans want to know how it went: Zanza.
Oh my god. What a freaking FANTASTIC final boss. Visuals were beautiful, music was just insane, it was intense, fast paced and interesting, and we ended god to the move we made light off all these play times: Sword Drive Crit on Toppled enemy after Stream Edge in Combo Mode. 28k. Glorious. Our team was Riki, Reyn, and Shulk. Both our faves and the main man himself, Shulk. Double tank. We actually ripped a lot of gems out of Shulk and gave him a crap load of HP. He ended up at 7.3k health, and both Riki and Reyn were max. Surprisingly, the damage was big, and we kicked the SHIT out of Zanza, with Riki healing like a madman while we spin past earth fighting angels and god and Reyn is taking a hit from a bigass monado while a choir explodes in the background holy fucking shit.
What a masterpiece final boss and villain. I cannot stress the greatness I felt when our Sword Drive pelted his toppled ass right in the fucking FACE. I reccommend this game for the final boss. It beats everything else in the game. I am still left speechless.
This game is an amazing gem in the history of gaming. Try it out for yourself if you like RPG's of any type, because there's so much to do and see and feel it's just... fantastic. Easy 10/10. The blood sweat and tears that's gone into this game is just absurd.

Quite honestly, I also love the game. Beat it not long ago myself along with my brother. It's our favorite game to date, and I think it's gonna stay that way for quite some time.
Also beat it with Shulk Reyn and Riki, and I was controlling Shulk. Right as we landed the last strike on him, Zanza, Reyn leveled up and screamed "ALRIGHT!" as the screen faded to black. Honestly, that moment was amazing, and so was pretty much anything else in the game. 10/10, WILL play again.

I will always remember the line Dunban pulled on Dickson when he was about to finish us off at one moment during the battle. "I am Dunban" then he proceeded to dodge the attack.
Your anti-Lorithia party was spot on. That's the team you want when you want things sliced up good, and swap out Fiora for Riki when you want to take on mobs 30 levels higher than your party in a war of attrition. :D
Mind you, having the Heropon in your party is cheating no matter the situation. ;)
My very first Zanza-killin' team was Shulk/Dunban/Fiora (aka team Poetic Justice also aka "Healing? What's That?"). 'Cause really, now. That said, Reyn is a fantastic choice for that fight and WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'VE BEEN UNDERESTIMATING SWORD DRIVE ALL THIS TIME THAT'S LIKE REYN'S BEST THING THAT ISN'T AGGRO--
Ahem, yes. YOU DID IT. CONGRATULATION. And I agree with everything you said. This game is a gem. Bring on X.
(Time for New Game+! Do all the quests because I am 1000% sure you did not get nearly all of your party's combat potential and powers and stuff and a whole massive amount of those are unlocked by doing quests and once you get the coolest-powered party ever omg you have not lived until you've done Naked Run Xenoblade where nobody's wearing clothes at all and Dunban dodges the literal universe when he's wearing nothing but boxers AND HE CAN GIVE THOSE AGILITY STATS TO THE REST OF YOUR PARTY THROUGH SKILL LINKS XDDD)
