Can I ask you guys something? · 7:02pm Jul 31st, 2015
To anyone who writes or has written, have you ever gotten a rejection for any reason? and if you have what where you feeling when you did? have you ever, if even only once let it make you reject the story entirely?
3284835 I wanted to do a story that would have essentially been a sequel to the movie little shop of horrors only set in the equestria girls CHS setting and using characters like rose luck and her siblings and a R63-ed collate (her brother Crest) in place of Audrey and the dentist, as well as a protagonist that's basically the grandson of Seymour from the first film. would I have retreaded the plot of LSoH? not entirely like i was going to mix it up by having it take place at the school with the new audrey (or Rosie II in this case) being raised by a botany/gardening club not a flower shop as part of an attraction. but apparently it got the ax by the mods because it was "too distant from the MLP verse."
My stories get rejected all the time. But honestly I'm too stubborn to give them up. I recently just got my story Mur 199 approved and it took me over two or so years to get it accepted.
Part of the problem was there was no Equestria Girls when I started writing it. So I changed the first chapter after seeing The Battle of the Bands and with the addition of the Sirens I had the missing link to my story. Other times my stories got rejected for just stupid things i forget, like adding a crossover tag or something dumb like that.
At first it sicks but then when I think about it, it always makes sense why i was rejected. Now, fans rejecting my stories, well that just sucks cause almost no one tells me why anymore. Only one guy did and he won't read my stories anymore!
So that my two bits worth. Hope you have a nice day! Or night, whatever time it is where you're at, have a good day all the same!
3285195 ill take your words into consideration, thanx
Well, I deleted my story, cause I got a lot of dumb downs, no one told me how to improve, but I am starting another story.
3297843 Ive only let one rejection get to me in such a way i deleted it and postponed getting the story made, maybe ill return to the idea once my other stuff gets made.
Rejection comes in many forms, from mods shooting down a story, to downvotes on what you feel to be your magnum opus. Sometimes it's hard for authors to find inspiration and come up with something original but hey, remember that there are many other ways to publish a story that you feel is good (deviantart? Tumblr? Facebook?). Getting shot down ain't the end of the world, it's a way to keep the fimfic community heading to the right place and not spin out of control and not sink the ship.
