A Christian nerd; probably the only guy you ever met who wanted the Larrymobile to be transformed by the All-Spark. My brother, The Traveler12, is NOT the lamest person you've ever met. Check him out!

Spoiler Alert: Age of Ultron, Part 1 · 12:32am Jul 23rd, 2015

:twilightsheepish:: Have we found the DVD yet?
:rainbowderp:: Nope!
:applejackunsure:: Sorry, Twi. We're just gonna have ta review somethin' else first.
:facehoof:: Ugh, the omniverse has a personal vendetta against my schedules. Alright, what's next on the bracket? X-Men Origins?
:pinkiesmile:: Avengers: Age of Ultron!
:facehoof:: ....alright. Fine. We're just going to review ANOTHER film out of order. I'm okay with this. Yeah, alright; let's do this! Let's @#$%ing do this!
:fluttershysad:: Language!

:rainbowlaugh::The flick begins with the Avengers invading a Hydra base. You know, just to show that even though we haven't seen the Avengers do anything during the past three years, doesn't mean they actually haven't done anything. I mean, yeah, it would've been nice if they could've helped save the President, stop Malekith, or take down the helicarriers, but at least they're finally kicking flank again.
Seriously, though, they really DO kick flank.
:ajbemused:: They're after Loki's scepter from the last movie, which is bein' held by Hydra's current leader, Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker, the only man i' the comics that could keep them goose-steppers workin' properly fer more'n five minutes. He was also the closest thing Nick Fury had ta an arch-enemy. Here, though, he believes that his men can handle Thor an' the Hulk an' decides not ta send his two superhumans, the sibling team 'a Quicksilver an' the Scarlet Witch, aka Pietro an' Wanda Maximoff, inta the field.
Ah'm sorry, when did ya lose any an' all intelligence or competency, Strucker?

:twilightsmile:: But since the twins are, you know, competent, Quicksilver briefly heads out in the field. He manages to injure Hawkeye, forcing Thor to leave the battle to get Clint some help. Which isn't much, but it's certainly more than any of the other Hydra agents would have done. Plus, I've always liked the light-hearted antagonism between Hawkeye and Quicksilver.
:rainbowhuh:: So after the Avengers predictably beat all of the Hydra agents, the Avengers need the Hulk to stand down. So, Black Widow walks up to the Hulk, says a few cryptic phrases, touches his hand, and he turns back to Bruce Banner.
....what the buck just happened?
:twilightoops:: I'm....not certain. Is it just because she's a pretty woman? Because otherwise I can't understand why the ex-assassin and expert manipulator was picked to calm people down.
:fluttershyouch:: Almost feels kind of creepy. Like she's using subliminal messaging or something.
:twilightoops:: Well, let's not jump to conclusions. While Tony Stark tries to find out what Hydra has in the base, the Scarlet Witch, whose powers have been altered from chaos magic to simpler psionic powers, manipulates his mind to haunt him with a vision of all of his teammates killed. You'd think that the deaths of Happy, Rhodey, and Pepper would have more of an emotional impact, but the greater question is why Wanda lets him take the Scepter once his vision is over. She had no idea what sort of chaos those emotions combined with that power would cause, but I guess she never heard that it's better to have the devil you know than the devil you don't know.
:applejackunsure:: With the help'a a Dr. Helen Cho, the Avengers use a doohickey called th' Cradle ta artificially regrow Hawkeye's torn up skin. It's not that important now, but it becomes a plot point later.
:twilightsmile:: Tony has been using a Legion of Iron Man drones to help him in combat, but isn't satisfied with these measures. He wants to build a system named Ultron that will protect the world from alien threats, allowing the Avengers to rest easily. He thinks he can build the AI for Ultron using the complex control systems found in Loki's scepter, but he only has three days to examine the scepter before Thor has to return it to Asgard. So, he and Bruce begins trying to build Ultron without telling the others, since they believe they don't have time for a morality debate. While secretly trying to build an AI based off of an enemy weapon isn't the smartest thing to do in a comic movie, at the moment, Tony's motivation is plausible. He has legitimate reasons to want the world to be safer, legitimate threats to prepare for, and he really doesn't have time to debate. Besides, he didn't even want to activate the program, just build it. After he had the program fully prepared, THEN he'd have time to debate whether it was a good idea. At this point in the plot, Tony's motivations are flawed but sound.
Don't expect this to last.
