    PP vs. What I've Become

Knight Breeze's What I've Become might not be a name you've heard before, but given its stats, especially the over 60,000 views, I feel safe calling it a fandom classic. :) Major spoilers ahead for a ten-year-old story!

Fic recs, May 20th: Project Get! #17!

Hey! :D Welcome back to Project Get!, where I sort my RIL by views and grab the last 10 on the list that aren't sequels, unfinished, or by the same author twice! I've been trying to do this a lot more frequently, but 'frequent' has not exactly described these blogs out of me, has it? D: I dunno if that could change in the near future. I've got outpatient surgery on Wednesday this week, so I'm

State of the Writer, April 2024!

    It's another boring one! I ain't wrote nothin'! :B

It actually feels lately like I've been crawling out of a pit? So maybe there's a light ahead? But it's also blocked by Balatro lol somepony save me D:

The only other thing relevant to this blog is that I've had notes for a vs. post sitting in my notes document for probably the entire month now, what is wrong with me? D:

Fic recs, April 22nd: Jordan179 edition

Once again, though a good bit late, I bring it upon myself to memorialize an author via reviews of their stories. Though this time, it's different, as I had no connection to Jordan179 and only learned of his passing (three years ago this month, coincidentally), from this post

Today, I had a grilled cheese sandwich from Five Guy's · 11:28pm Jul 3rd, 2015

And it was the first thing I've eaten there that disappointed me. I mean, I don't like the Cajun fries, but that's just because I'm a weak baby man.

But the grilled cheese? It was cute, because they flip the two halves of the bun over before they grill them.

But it was just...

I mean, it was way too...

What I'm trying to say is...

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--

The joke is I hate the quesadilla joke, and I stopped identifying so much with Twilight after alicorn, but here I am, identifying with her once again OVER A TERRIBLE FUCKING JOKE THANKS M.A. LARSON

Mmm, cheesy.

Whenever I see Larson's name without periods, I imagine Ma Larson as one of those chubby, beehived women from The Far Side.

I love it.

Hey, I like trying new things! And I've been eating too much bacon and grease lately, so I figured, y'know, that'd be less! :B

Next time, burger with no cheese at all. D:

Speaking of burger joints, I happened to have this image pulled up on Derpibooru when I clicked on this blog: derpicdn.net/img/2014/2/23/559574/large.png

Kind of makes me want to go to my local Five Guys and try one. I rather like their burgers, but given my cheese addiction I could imagine the the grilled cheese would be right up my alley. Well, assuming it isn't just boring.

It will be if you don't treat it like a burger, i.e., get some fucking veggies onnit. I went with onions and mushrooms, but more might be in order. Perhaps jalapenos?

3203888 I dunno, I'm not really a fan of almost any veggie on a burger.

Did you make the same adorable face Twilight did? Because, seriously, that "Cheese scares me" face is so adorable I'm going to die. Like, right now.

Dies

But I wouldn't ever try to get her to make that face with cheese. But Rainbow Dash totally would.

Five guys really needs to go international ASAP. Best big-chain burger I remember eating.

I didn't know Five Guys made Grilled Cheese; I always thought they were a burger and hot dog joint.

3203888
You mean you didn't already have jalapenos on it? PP I am disappoint :pinkiesad2:

Never been to that joint. US only?
I am not a big fan of grilled cheese in general. I dislike processed cheese, cheddar is greasy, and most other cheeses that melt well are terribly bland.

Now fry up some savory french toast instead with a dollop of salsa and sour cream... mmm.

3203821
There are very few ways to objectively live your life wrong, and getting a grilled cheese sandwich at Five Guys is one of them.

No, it was less twilightcheesy.png and more picardfacepalm.png

3204054
They have a veggie burger, too!

3204150
What part of "I am weak baby man" did you not understand? :|

3204200
I guess, given 3204012. Whatever cheese they use, it's somewhere between "Kraft" and "Velveeta", and just wrong in large amounts. Like, the amount they put on a normal cheeseburger? Fine. But this? Well, see above.

Also >savory French toast, what is this nonsense :V

3204201
AND NOW WE KNOW WHY

3204200 It's in Canada too, at least southern Ontario.

3204257
Hey if you can pour pancake syrup on your omlets you can put ham and cheese on your french toast.

3204458
Just about everything US based is in Southern Ontario and nowhere else. :applecry:

>syrup on eggs

Who does that? D:

3204257 huh, didn't know that either; it's been a long time since I've been to one. Good for them on expanding their menu.

I have gone to Five Guys several times before and I had no idea they offered grilled cheese. I mean, it's Five Guys, so just knowing that makes me want to try it...

3205146

Pinkie Pie in Ponies Discover /CO/ for one.:trollestia:

3204200 We have a few Five Guys restaurants in the UK as well now, so they may come your way sooner or later. I've been to the Birmingham branch a couple of times and... yeah, their food is very nice, and I enjoyed it, though (as tends to be the case) not quite as amazing as you'd think if you believed the hype. Like most of these places, really. In Michelin Guide terms, worth a detour but not worth a journey. :rainbowwild:

Also: can you get Red Leicester wherever you are? It's an English hard cheese, orange, and it's superb grilled.

3203835 I've heard the hot dogs are very good. Supposedly they slice them in half and cook them on a skillet. I heard about that and tried it myself, and now it's how I make all my hot dogs. I've never tried one at Five Guys, though. Every time I go to order one, I find I've ordered a bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions instead. :applejackunsure:

3205686

Apparently there's a place up by the UBC campus here that has Red Leicester. I might have to try it.

So cheesy!

Everything is Larsen's fault, aren't you aware of that?

(Today's excellent episode is also his fault. <3 It's not always an epithet.)

That is where it derived from.

HEY! Five Guys Grilled Cheese is the best! If you didn't expect the cheese, I don't know what you thought was coming.

Seriously though I take mine with mayo, grilled onions and mushrooms, tomato, BBQ sauce, and upgraded with bacon. If you haven't tried it yet (or did but didn't like it), may God help you.
