Patreon Update · 2:39am Jun 30th, 2015
You have a Patreon, Geo? That's a bit cheeky, given that you don't do much writing these days.
I know, it certainly seems that way. But at least hear me out first.
I have set up a Patreon page because, as of today at 1pm GMT, I am officially unemployed again. My three-month work contract has come to an end, and I now face the prospect of having to claim Jobseeker's Allowance (or Universal Credit, or whatever the hell it's called now).
You can probably guess that this is not something I want to do — especially considering the fact I might not be unemployed for all that long. There is a chance I'll have another job with the same company in August, but I still need to prepare for the possibility that this might not be the case.
So, with this in mind, I have made some changes to my Patreon page. The biggest change is the fact that I am no longer seeking pledges on a monthly basis. I've finally realised that I can go months without updating any existing stories or publishing new ones, so expecting people to pay me for doing nothing is a bit of a dick move. From now on, I will only be paid whenever I publish a new story.
If my understanding of Patreon is correct, I have to post an update there saying that new content has been published, which in turn means that patrons will have their cards/PayPal accounts charged. As such, should I publish more than one story in a given month, I will see to it that patrons are only charged for the first one (if that even makes sense).
I have also made some changes to the rewards I offer.
If you pledge a minimum of $1 per published story, I will put a link to your Fimfiction/deviantART/FurAffinity/etc page on my userpage and on my personal website.
If you pledge a minimum of $3 per published story, you will also get access to a Patron-only Skype group and access to new stories 24 hours before non-patrons.
If you pledge a minimum of $5 per published story, then you will also get a guaranteed cameo for your OC in any of my currently Incomplete stories, a repeatable reward which will operate on a queue basis. And, not only that, I will also edit one story or chapter for you each month!
This isn't a begging blog or anything like that, far from it. I just thought I'd put this out here. I'm not insisting or demanding that you pledge, I'm just saying that the option is there if you want to take it.
That's all for now, folks. I love you all, and once again remind you to stay awesome.
