Even though I'm taking a long break from writing, my brain is still thinking up ideas for stories. How do I make it stop? I've already tried hitting my head, that just makes the story ideas all the more wonkier!
I have that kind of problem, but rather than ignoring it, why not just embrace it? That may help you become motivated to continue what you love doing.
3192763 I shall try, I am actually working on a side project; it's something I think everybody may like.
I try playing really loud music on my iPod. Kinda helps keeping both the outside and dumb thoughts out for some reason. Then again I am kinda losing my hearing a bit sooo try doing it in shorts bursts dude. Hope this helps.

Here is an idea: if you can't get a chapter in, but actually getting bits and pieces of what popping up in your mind, why not type it in a document or memo and save it for that certain chapter? That way, you don't have to worry about what you're missing.
That's what I do when I used to write stories.
I think that's a message it's attempting to send you.
Don't worry, I have the same issue, when I listen to music. I start imagining crazy shit happening with characters I like, like them dancing to the music and singing. It's pretty fucking awesome.
