Actually, I'm Dead - Editorial: Designing Trixie · 5:24am Jun 25th, 2015

Yeah, I'm aware that it's not Sunday yet. Too early to throw this week's editorial since people is still reading the last update and don't need the distraction to pass time while the next one is in the works. However, last chapter brought back some memories from before brony-ism, when I would spend my spare time playing with MSPaint and some template models to make these:

It's like 8-bit modeling, just a little bit more complex.

These are micro-heroes, perfect for design work to some of us who frankly don't have a good hand for drawing but a good eye for detail to compensate. But what does any of this has anything to do with "Actually, I'm Dead"? Well, let me give you a clue:

A little rusty on the edges and maybe lost some spark, but I still got it, damn it! Now, because the pony colors and clothing code may evoke a little of uncanny valley effect, let's try to adapt it:

Like it? Good, because here's where the connection with Actually, I'm Dead begins. Say, what would happen to the girl up there if her home and source of income were smashed. How much would it change her appearance?

Note the little details. For example, the straps, bandages and belt are darker shades of the previous cape's color while the same can be said of the rags and the uniform. The core concept here is Trixie wearing whatever she could savage from the wrecked cart, or still holding on the memory, trying to get her clothe's colors to somehow match the previous ones. There's also the cloak; no more for show but to cover herself from the cold. You know what happens next:

Ah, the curse itself, the reason of this fic's existence. The Alliteratively Accursed Alicorn Amulet. Not too many changes here; not the red pupils and that she's not covering herself under the hood anymore. Now comes the real reason of this blogpost:

The first one is, of course, Trixie right as she awoke in the hospital room. As the narration says, bot fur/skin and mane/hair lose their actual color and become extremely pale, even gray instead of azure and silver. I little detail I would like to point out here is the very small scars under the amulet, indicating that it's now encrusted on her chest. The second one is to show how Trixie tries to hide the Amulet with the clothes.

Finally, and catching up with the Fic's canon, we have what Rarity gave Trixie t wear in replacement of the old black cloak and meanwhile Rarity sews her a new outfit:

To that was it. Some kind of visual guide as also a complementary piece of my own hand to accompany the story. Also, this is how I may will end up designing the new one for Rarity to give it to Trixie.

4, 5, 6 and 7 makes me think about Sub-zero from Mortal kombat does that means ?

i like the evolution between each pics though, showing her more and more as a ghost
