    Happy New Year 2017

To my friends, followers, and people who stumbled upon my page,

I wish you all a Happy New Year from Texas.

Not much to say about the up coming year, all I can hope from the world of fanfiction is that I can finish up my current Kantai Collection ideas and maybe do some more MLP.

Help with a name · 12:34am Jun 24th, 2015

Please pardon any errors, doing this off my phone.

Trying to work through a quasi-EQG fic and I need some help. I need a human name for Nightmare Moon, and I don't mean for Vice Principle Luna's possible other personality, I mean Equestria's NMM ending up in the human world.

Main thing is the name needs to be German, and if possible give me the mea.ing behind it. I have a few ideas of my own but I'm not fully enthused with them, except for her family name because of the irony.

This may help greatly. Ada seems like a good pick, as it means Noble. however, there are many other names. Try to find something with 'Moon', maybe?

It's got to go well with Sonnen, which I did pick for the irony value, the Mare of the Moon last name being Sun?

Heh. Good point.

Mind linking me to the story when it's finished? Or if anything, when it's started - if it's just an idea.

Eklipse is the German word for, well, you probably already know. Eklipse Sonne (Eclipse Sun) seems a bit weird, but it might work. Finsternis, if I remember correctly, is "eclipse, as in obscuring." But Finsternis just doesn't sound like a good name for her. Unfortunately "Eclipsed Sun" translates into a whole different word and can come out as verdunkeln or verfinstern depending on nuance. Neither sounds like a decent name though.

Mond is the word for Moon though. (Sonne is the word for Sun; "Sonnen" is the first part of a word incorporating the word sun. Sonnenschein is "sunshine.")

Ideas I rejected:

Tuefelpferd Mond! (Devilhorse Moon) :derpytongue2:

Nachtstute Mond would be the literal translation of "Mare of the Night, Moon." Alptraum Mond would be "Nightmare (bad dream) Moon." Unfortunately translating into German loses the double meaning.

Bürokrat (bureaucrat) would make for a fitting title and something that would be nightmarish for Principal Celestia to struggle against.

Shrekgespenst Mond would be something like Bogeyman/Bad Spirit Moon.

To me, whenever i hear "Gretchen" i think "Bitch".

I'm thinking of Sonne as her family name... which looks like you saw.

While its likely to annoy some readers, the planned story will be a one shot and NMM has turned good. The whole point showing that the EoH cannot destroy, only cleanse, and somehow dropping the poor mare into the Rhine in West Germany

3179567 lol! :rainbowlaugh: But if you know Camp Lakebottom, you'll know that that can't be general!

Hey, if a girl can be named Weiss in RWBY...

I don't know if this has been resolved but the double meaning of Nightmare Moon can be broken down into it's two forms, Night Mare (moon) which would mean a female equine attuned to night, or Night-mare (according to Wiki at least), is a demon or goblin that torments others in their dreams. perhaps that can give inspiration to the name.
