It's reached the point where I see just a regular human in Equestria story and I exclaim "oh thank fuck", that's how bad this stupid fad has gotten. Displaced fics are what it took to make me appreciate regular HiE stories, and that's a pretty big fucking achievement (They still aren't good either, for example I saw a Markipliar in Equestria story earlier and I started bashing my head off a wall).
I always say that I am vehemently opposed to any notion of censorship, but I'm genuinely starting to believe it would be better if the moderators just stopped allowing them to be published (saying that like the moderators actually give two shits what gets published any more). I saw one user in particular just a moment ago, his bio read "A gamer with an overactive imagination" and yet all he's written are 2 HiE stories and 3 Displaced fics, I didn't see much evidence of the imagination he claimed to have.
I know people would just tell me to ignore them, but this avalanche of shit is making it really difficult to find any good stories, and with the ones I've already favourited being updated less and less it feels as if the FimFiction well is running dry. I have a funny feeling my next story will probably end up being my last one here, I've been wanting to stop doing fanfiction and move onto writing something original for a while now, and considering how jaded I've become with this site as of late I think it might be for the best if I just finish up with my next story before quietly fading away. So that should be fun, being able to write something that I might one day get paid for and never having to put up with any more of this sites bullshit fads.
The first chapter of the new story will be published on Saturday (not accounting for however long it takes to pass moderation), it's currently at 40,000 words and still nowhere near done. I will aim to publish chapters every Saturday/Sunday, although that might be increased to twice a week if I feel I have enough chapters in the bank. The story will be titled 'Mortal Coil', chosen because of the definition given by Wikipedia: "a poetic term that means the troubles of daily life and the strife and suffering of the world".
I have an honest question, Whats a Displaced story? I've heard of it, but could never figure it out for my self.
3160021 A human goes to a convention dressed as some fictional character, but they are missing one piece of their outfit which they find being sold by a mysterious merchant, the piece is enchanted and sends them to Equestria where they turn into the character they dressed up as. That might sound like an interesting and unique concept... if it hadn't been done over 500 times (going by the figures on the Displaced group which has exactly 634 stores in it, although I assume there are more out there that are not in the group)
