Posting of "The Legend of the Gift Horses" by the Royal Canterlot Library

The Royal Canterlot Library featured "The Legend of the Gift Horses" on their website, and in their group here on FimFiction.net! It's so exciting. I love hearing that people enjoy my stories, and right now I'm in the middle of writing a creative novella for a thesis project (which has had many twists and turns of its own). So the news really gave an added boost to my confidence as a storyteller

    Spike's Pet Revised

Hi, on the great advise of several people here on FimFiction.net, I have made some revisions to my story, Spike's Pet--although this is mostly right at the end and in terms of what happens to Roots.

I hope everyone enjoys the changes! ^_^

New Avatar Picture and Thank You · 6:25pm Jun 16th, 2015

Whew! Things have gotten so busy in my life lately, preparing for the graduate program in Literature & Writing Studies to begin in the fall and looking around for a place to rent nearby.

And during the rush of all these activities, an act of kindness is a beautiful thing that can really make your day. Such is the case today, when SonicMlpGamerandArtist sent a drawing of my OC (now uploaded for all to see). I love how people can reach out to each other in this fan community, and just how much artistic talent can blossom here.

Thank you again, SonicMlpGamerandArtist, and blessings!

Good luck with the graduate program! Hearing about it reminds me how connected the MLP fandom truly is. (I'm going into 10th grade in the fall) Are you planning on doing some sort of career linked to literature or writing? (Sorry if these statements have nothing to do with one another. My mind is going everywhere right now.)

Sonicmlpgamerandartist did a great job with the drawing. The OC looks awesome!

3154636 Thank you, and it sounds like you're just moving right along as well. ^_^ I hope to become a successful professional writer, which means all my experiences through Fimfiction.net have helped out a great deal. But attending a graduate program will also continue to strengthen my writing, and also to open new doors to different opportunities within the creative writing field.

Do you know what career or field you'd like to go into after graduating from high school? Good luck, in advance!

P.S. Yep, Sonicmlpgamerandartist is pretty amazing.

3156433 Thanks, on both counts! ;3

I'm not 100% sure yet, but I'm actually aiming for a career in the medical field. I don't want to be a surgeon (because I have a relatively low attention span and coordination) but I would like a job relating to microbiology.

P.S: Sorry I took so long to answer you. My family and I are taking a vacation in California and we spent a few days in Yosemite. There was no cellular reception, so I couldn't answer your question.

3163617 That's wonderful to hear! You would have many options, and it's a very altruistic profession. Do you plan to attend a university focused around medical care, or will you start out at a regular community college or university (before working your way from there)? Microbiology sounds fascinating. What would be an example of something you might do as a microbiologist? In any case, good luck!

No worries. Anything from work to technical problems can delay my response to comments as well.

How are you enjoying your visit to California? It's my home state (and so am a bit biased in that regard), but there are many beautiful sights here. Will you stay mostly in the Yosemite area, or does your family plan to travel to different places towards the coast, etc.?

I'm not quite sure what I want to do in terms of college. I know that I want to go to Texas A&M (I live in Houston, Texas), but I'm thinking of starting at a smaller college like the University of Houston for my freshman year, just because I would have yet to get used to college life.

The more specific job that I want is something that has to do with Pathology (the study and diagnosis of diseases). Basically, I'm torn between clinical Pathology and research Pathology. In clinical, you test different samples from a sick person to figure out what's wrong with them, and then recommend the treatment, although there are probably smaller branches of it that I'm not aware of. Research Pathology is exactly what it sounds like. Basically, I would spend my days studying mysterious diseases trying to gain more information about them.

I've really been liking California. For starters, the weather is a nice change of pace from the rain, floods, and recent tropical storm that we Texans have been experiencing. We're basically going to several different locations in California. We were in San Francisco for two days and we were at Yosemite for three days. Yesterday, we went on an eight mile hike that took nine hours (never doing it again). But now we're slowing down and visiting some friends of ours. But Yosemite was beautiful. My favorite scenery would have to be the Vernal Falls.:raritystarry:

3163974 That sounds nice! Smaller universities are usually friendlier and more close-knit, I've found (a little like certain residential communities). You should also be able to get some great financial aid as well. Do you plan to move into the dorms, or will you commute to the campus from home? But, wow. Both of those subjects are intriguing. Of course, regardless of which one you choose, you would wind up doing quite a bit of research. So I guess it all depends on how you would prefer to spend an average work day. Good luck, in any case! ;3

Hah. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your visit to California. If you happen to go anywhere near the coast in Southern California, I'd also recommend visiting Oceanside. One of the longest wooden piers is viewable there, which includes a Ruby's restaurant at the very tip. Nice.

I suggested it to my parents, and it looks like we're probably looking at going to Oceanside!

I'm going to see how the view compares with San Francisco. (We went to pier 39 and saw all the sea lions. Sadly, we saw one that was wounded. I actually knew from a documentary to call the nearby Marine Mammal Center, but I don't know what became of that poor sea lion.:pinkiesad2:) Sailing on the catamaran made up for it, though! I love sailing! There's actually a Girl Scout sailing camp near Seabrook, TX (not far from Galveston). I've actually become an aide who can help younger girls learn how to sail.

But anyway, my family has added Oceanside to the visit list. Thanks for the suggestion!:yay:

3167093 Oh, dear! Hopefully that injured sea lion managed to get some much-needed medical attention. Bravo on calling the Marine Mammal Center. That was very smart, and you might have just helped to save him/her. :pinkiehappy: You're so lucky to have such adventures, and congrats on becoming an aide to teach younger girls how to sail. That's amazing! It feels great to help others to learn new things. I volunteered at a museum near my hometown, and being able to share stories from throughout the valley (the Temecula Creek Valley, that is) with visitors and care for the precious artifacts on display there was an invaluable experience.

That's wonderful! I hope you have a wonderful time in Oceanside. It's a relaxing beach setting, with many art pieces on display in the city close by. I believe they also have a Farmer's Market there every Thursday.

Another tip, though: Near the aforementioned wooden pier is also the Oceanside Transit Center. And if taking a train ride sounds like fun, you might consider trying the Sprinter Train. The line runs from Oceanside to Escondido, which features various stops in-between such as Palomar Community College and Cal State San Marcos (of which many students and other residents take full advantage). Day passes are $5 each, which entitle you to ride as much as you'd like on the train, as well as almost all the buses throughout the region.

There is another larger train that also boards at the Oceanside Transit Center called the "Coaster," and this one apparently goes all the way to San Diego. I say "apparently" because I've yet to take that trip myself (although it's supposed to be amazing and reasonable as well).

Aw~ And thanks for taking that suggestion! I'm always glad to help, such as pointing out fun places to see in Southern California. ;3 Please let me know if you have any questions about it, though.
