A grateful shout-out to the Seattle's Angels team for featuring a second story of mine, The White Horse, in their most recent site blog post, and for saying generally nice things about it. And for forgiving my flailing incompetence in continuity matters.
They're a cool bunch, Seattle's Angels, and they do a good job of highlighting lesser-known decent fics (not that I'm biased at all), and excel in all things faffing-related. Check out more of their blog posts and podcasts if you don't already.
I think I've been out-matched.
Well played.

Let no-one say I don't deliver.

Oh?
So how 'bout The Devil's Details?

That ... that's an entirely ... um ... the thing there is ...
Stop exposing my hypocrisy and failings, damn your eyes.

Excellent work as always, Carabas. You deserve the feature.
And for what it's worth, I couldn't care less about the continuity "error." I've always appreciated stories willing to bend canon a bit in the name of better storytelling. Equestria's history can be a bit pat and dull in its canon portrayal, anyways. ~ Sable

Thank you! I suppose the key factor with quality canon-bending is whether it's purposeful pushing at canon's boundaries to try and deliver a better story, outright reversal of canon to create an AU, or a simple oversight like Sombra's presence in The White Horse. Not too huge a factor, though, and at least it hasn't seemed to spoil the story for most who've commented.

Right. I've bent canon before in ways that most people either didn't notice or mention, but bothered me because they were oversights. If it's systemic to the story and therefore can't be easily fixed with an edit or two, I usually try to lampshade it somehow in later chapters. You know, bring it to the foreground along with a (hopefully) sensible explanation of how or why the story (seemingly) deviated from canon, therefore making me look like a planned-it-all-along Clever Author instead of a head-scratching goof.
...Of course, this technique works better with multi-chapter, ongoing works than with one-shots. Maybe everyone else's canon-compatibility error is really just your cunning sequel bait?

I like your style, I ought to adopt it.
