Her name is Bon.... Bon Bon.

Episode 100!
And what a crazy, fun-filled gift to the fandom it was!
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic jumps the shark. Literally.
Oh yeah, they knew what they were doing. And they owned it!
Is it bad that I just spent a couple minutes looking at that picture while listening to Brother in Arms from the Mad Max: Fury Road soundtrack?
There is so much to cheer for and talk about in this episode. So instead of analyzing it, I'm going to just open this blog up to discussions and let all of you talk about everything that made "Slice of Life" fun and special. But for me, above all the humor and the fan love and the awesome, I really appreciated the Mayor's speech and how it thematically tied this episode to the positive messages of the series as a whole. That was... very nicely done. Good job, writers. Good job!
Plus, I just have to say: how awesome was this?! (Especially, at least for me, just after my Changeling blog?)
Given how they literally jumped the shark, i can't help but think this episode was a goof.
Also Gummy should have been voiced by Morgan Freeman
3148306
I would pay so much money to make that happen.
3148306 If he'd been voiced by morgan freeman my head litterally would have exploded. However I did like the V.A. who did gummies inner monologue, it was well done
Overall an amazing episode. Way too much stuff to say how much was awesome. Loved the doctor derpy relationship, the changeling, the luna and celestia relationship, *squee* And Lyra was so awesome as well. I loved her voice, her and bon-bon's relationship was great as well, so nice. OH and octavia :O her voice was amazing too. There were so many subtle references like that sprinkled throughout that I really enjoyed. When I saw lyra sitting like a human I almost died of joy. 11/10 episode.
This episode was probably the best fan service tv episode I have ever seen.
It's actually, "Bon..., James Bon."
Ironically episode 100 is like Fallout Equestria. Each one pony telling each of their own adventures and stories. In episode 100 it tells the stories of the background ponies while in Fallout Equestria, it's the story of Littlepip and her fellow wastelands.
Het name isn't Bon Bon! That's her undercover name!
But, yeah. Episode rocked. Loved every single frame of it.
Derpy has a voice and screwy eyes again. That's all I ever wanted.
this was the pony shock and awe episode, I spent the entirety 20 minutes dumbfounded and laughing. I wish that did more like thing, not just like this, but more episodes were we get to know more about the ponies of ponievill.
My favorite part has to be how Derpy not only made up for mistake, but did so in a way that accidentally made the situation even better. And then there are the sheer number of story hooks to work with, from the Doctor's formative colthood trauma to the adventures of Cranky and Steven. This episode was a gold mine for fan fiction.
And yeah, the Wubbernaut was ridiculous but undeniably awesome.

Me too, and it sounded perfect to me.
The changeling? Oh that's Phil. His names Phil.
Makes sense that a changeling would be at a wedding actually, free food. I have to say that I completely loved this episode. Everything about it, from the Doctor to the Octy Scratch jam session was made for this fandom. Though one of my favorite parts (how does that apply if the whole thing was my favorite?) was the appearance of ButtonMash.
Also, fully agree with 3148306 , Gummy should absolutely have been Morgan Freeman.
Until next time,

Why isn't the show just this?
No, I'm serious. I would /love/ it if the slice of life episodes did more with the background ponies and expanded the cast and characters a little. Especially since they seem to be going in a more monster of the week format with the Mane 6.
This is now my favorite episode, and I am sure I'm not the only one. Despite having LyraBon, princesses, and even Ditzy/Doctor; it was Octavia and Vynal's jam session that was my favorite part. But, loved every bit of it all the same.
I hope they keep all the voices the same for when, or if, they use them again. Really they can actually work with this stuff, but I get that this is probably a one time thing. Still, AWESOME!
I never thought of how epic Cranky's quest for Matilda would be, but if he befriended a Sea Serpent AND a Changeling during it... Damn!
To me, Sweetie Drops will always be the name of Bon Bon's Candy store and she's an aspiring actress, not a secret agent (although that would explain her multiple voices, but the fact she never changes her mane, coat and cutie mark kinda ruins any chance of espionage...)
I was also slightly worried for Button Mash when I saw the jelly pony
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Vinyl still hasn't talked? There were plenty of times when she could have, but she didn't. They dodged something, and I love/hate them for it
And the subtle slipping of "I've been working on this for decades, centuries even!" into the Doctor's lines was a lovely little fan service.
...And that one changeling. Seriously. Who invites a changeling to a wedding, regardless of the friends he has? The Royal Wedding probably left most of Equestria afraid of them.

It would become like Adventure time then where background characters become more important than the main ones.
Okay I just got to watch it and I must say that the episode was awesome! (I know I sound like Rainbow Dash ) The Vynal and Octavia moment was great, especially since they inadvertently brought the entire wedding together just in time, lol. Doc from Back to the Future??? I always thought that Time Turner was based off of Doctor Who, well then I'm going to need to re-work my Transformers fic a bit. Ditzy (Derpy) was great, and that one moment when she was with Doc and her eyes looked straight scared me just a tad. And don't get me started on the Docs' bowling formulas (reminds me way too much of how my dad looks at everything).
All in all the only thing I found out of place was Celestia and Luna, though given the fact that Steve and a Changling were there I suppose it may make sense that Cranky may have befriended them and Shining Armor/ Candace too. I would love to see what they do with this since they have given the background ponies we all love a little spotlight.
Oh, and the name is Bon, Bon Bon. (Hysterical)
10/10
10 out 10!
It was a fun episode to be sure.
Yeah, this episode was definitely catering to the fans. Maybe even testing the grounds to expanding further then just the mane six and seeing if it's well received if the focus is slightly taken away from the main characters.
Who knows. It might even be a couple of hints to some knew stories even. Just who is that Changling?....

I accept that headcanon, despite the fact that that may have been a joke.
I think it was one of the best episodes so far.
Oh, and also:

Gummy was the best. He is now my favourite character in the whole series, ever.
If it wasn't the best episode of the series, it was certainly the most entertaining. I was on a pony high the whole rest of the day.

"I was told there would be free food."
3148895
Oh wow, I hadn't actually considered he was a friend of Cranky's. I thought that since this changeling hadn't bothered disguising itself, it was a reference to the multitude of fanfics and headcanons everyone has about one changeling freeing himself from the hive mind/defecting, then getting sent to Ponyville.

Wha?
No, no... who said anything about BTTF? It's clearly Doctor Who. Look at his accent. His mannerisms. "Allons-y." The scarf! Rose!! "Working on this for centuries". What gave you "Doc from BTTF?"
3151591 hehe, Well he said the trademark phrase of Doc, also babbled like Doc. (You do know that Doc has a working Time Machine right?)
3151690 Haha. Maybe it was plausible deniability in case BBC accused them of skating too close to their intellectual property! Not likely though; waaaayyy too many obvious Doctor Who references.
3151792 Great Scott, perhaps he is a mix breed!!!

A lot of people love the 100th episode for the large amounts of fan pandering. A portion of people think this episode sucks because of the fan pandering. There doesn’t seem to be much recognition that this episode actually has a point, unlike Double Rainboom, which threw a huge amount of references with a ‘morale’ tacked on at the end.
If someone were to view this episode in an internet culture-free vacuum, like a young child, or someone a decade after FiM’s finale, there actually is a lesson it’s trying to teach. Everyone is a star in their own series. Even though the issues people face aren’t objectively equal, every person you pass on the street is currently working towards the most pressing thing in their life. Life as we know it is flitting in and out of the timelines of OTHER people. When we come together in a social event, it’s all of us simultaneously existing in each other.

Look above the red line. Then listen to this. Believe me, they know what they’re doing.

I would actually love a show focused on those characters as well.
In particular: Bon Bon.
Imagine - Bon Bon stops Monsters for the agency, Lyra ends up tagging along, and it all somehow gets mixed with slice of life drama.
It would be like a 90s cartoon!
