GOODNESS GRACIOUS THIS IS MY FAVORITE EPISODE.
I'm sorry, Pinkie Pride, you're still amazing, but you can't compete with this. You just can't. It's impossible.
There was the Doctor and Derpy and Vinyl and Octavia and... and even Amethyst Star, I love Amethyst Star, how did they know? And it was so over-the-top but by gosh they knew it was over-the-top and it had to be over-the-top and they pulled it off! And Bon-Bon actually has two names? Who knew? Oh, and that conclusion was genius.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... Man. "What's this word you keep using?"
Okay. Let's be coherent for a moment here, because I've got some serious stuff to say about this episode.
I adored it. It was a very bold way of saying "thank you" to the fans, and I think that's something even the few of us who didn't like it ought to appreciate. They certainly could have messed it up big-time very easily, but it's obvious that they knew this full well and went ahead with it anyway. In my opinion, they pulled it off spectacularly, but even if you disagree, you should remember that they did this for us. It was a risky endeavor, and not one they had to undertake by any means, but they did. I find this very touching, and it's obvious to me that MLP:FiM doesn't plan on jumping the shark any time soon.
I love the show and, in fact, the fandom even more after watching this episode. It amazes me how strong both parties are after four and a half years. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing has to die off early, either. And whatever happens next season, or for the rest of the show's tenure, I'm happy now. Or maybe I should say... I'm sappy now. (Great, I just interrupted my own Groundhog Day quote...)
