This Weeks Episode: Slice of Life · 6:18pm Jun 13th, 2015
So, my normal style of going through what happened won't be easy because of all the scene transitions, but really the plot was a backseat to why everyone wanted to see this episode anyway, so I'll just give you guys what headcanons are correct and give final thoughts so shall I? Side note some of these I didn't know were things so feel free to tell me where they came from, also I'll be saying if I'm a fan, don't care, or not a fan of the things done (because there's one interpretation I wasn't a fan of).
Derpy and Doc(tor) are friends (by the way they squeezed as much Who as they legally could, he most certainly isn't the actual doctor but they did what they could). I'm a fan, I mean really it's neat little tributes.
The ponies designed after the Big Lebowski characters... well I can't say anymore because I've never seen it so, no opinion.
Vynal and Octavia are indeed roomies, I can dig that, opposites attract and all that, not to mention that them working together was pure awesome both in song and ride.
(Ignore the toy shark, I get the joke but I think they'll keep doing fine)
The flower trio are over reactive drama queens, yeah that one I'm not that big a fan of, just why? I mean, they never freaked out over nothing and broken flower stem got them?
Lyra and Bon-Bon are indeed besties, also Bon-Bon is actually Sweet Drop a member of an anti-monster group from Canterlot and undercover. Best friends yeah, undercover you'll need to tell me where that's from honestly...
Stephen Magnet (the sea serpent from episode 2) and Cranky are best friends, again you'll need to tell me where this came from.
Also, Gummy is extremely philosophical, and that's awesome I can accept that. Though I do kinda wish he'd worked with Bob-Bon/Sweet Drop as reference to what we used to see thinking he was like Perry the Platypus. But, I can accept that.
Also, Luna forgot the gift on the counter, I don't know what that's supposed to relate back to but it's a thing.
And honestly those are the main ones I remember/got.
Again, feel free to tell me anything I missed, and anything that was alluded to that I didn't get.
Now for my thoughts, if you want the truth I went in with lowed expectations, not because of the plot being about background ponies, not because I thought headcanons would die, I went in because things like this have been done before with great effect but the key difference is that those were day to day life not some special event.
It just showed the characters going about as they do, not all getting ready for a singular event and that's what I thought would lower it.
They were all working to something, and in turn not just being themselves.
But know what? I was wrong, yeah they were all working towards the common goal of Cranky and Matilda's wedding, but I'd say they were still them.
Overall, I enjoyed the episode, some will complain about it being pandering, some will complain that they used the wrong version and it killed their headcanon, but really? In the end it did what any media should.
It entertained, and that's something we all need to understand, entertainment is the only thing anything should try and do.
It's great to know you were right all along when it comes to something with an overall plot, like with Gravity Falls when it turned out Stan actually did have a brother I remember seeing that theory a few times and thinking how ridiculous it sounded.
Then it's also fun to just turn off your brain and enjoy stupidity like Family Guy or Total Drama (don't judge me ).
But in the end this is one of the few things I can think of that you can really do both.
You can just shut down and enjoy episode to episode, or you can work your fan brain and see the underlying connections to create amazing works.
The point is, in the end as long as you had fun, who cares if it's traditionally good or not?
Who cares that Go isn't nearly as good as the orignal Teen Titans as long as you have a good time watching it? Who cares if you enjoy something that you'll fully admit is absolutely stupid as long as you're having a good time?
Who cares if your or my headcanon was killed as long as the ride was nice?
In the end, the only thing that matters is that you had a good time, no matter how bad something supposedly is.
Critics hated Castlevainia: Judgement, but most fans say it's middle of the road.
And above all remember that fun is all that matters, and if your story's been thrown out of whack by this no big deal, just keep it up slap an AU tag on if needed.
We have who they are, but that's just a base, look what we did before we knew ANYTHING.
I had a good time with the episode, and I hope you guys did too.
And yes, some of this would be great fun in the wastelands of Fallout Equestria.
Thank you all, and goodnight, even though it's not even noon for me yet.
EDIT: Whoops, that whole tangent of don't worry just have fun made me forget about next week.
Anyway, next weeks episode "Princess Spike," well, this can only end good... and probably in a dress...
EDIT, EDIT: Wow, seems like most people actually really quite enjoyed it... and my tangent was for nothing... aw well, been meaning to do something like it for a while.
I just notice the "Jumping the Shark" joke xD. I think from this episode there would new head-canons forming, which is kind of why i love this fandom so much.

I only noticed it because the picture in the wiki's gallery mentioned it.
