Pen Dragon has made an passionate and important petition, one I think is best served by their own words. So please, for the sake of a benign website that has brought such entertainment and joy to many, give this a look.

    Important message about Suicide

WARNING: Discussions, however brief for the sake of tact, about self-harm and suicidal thoughts are in this post. People especially vulnerable to such should ensure they are in a good headspace before reading. This sort of trigger is no joke.

    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

3138776 Good for you...

I also grew up on dinosaurs and Jurassic Park was amazing, can't wait to see what Jurassic World brings to the table because of how far technology is progressing, but because of how fast technology is progressing, will we have to contend with something like the Avengers' most dangerous foe, Ultron?

"I had strings...but now I'm free...there are no strings on me..."
Ultron, quoting Disney's Pinocchio

For a Halloween special, it would be awesome if the Main Cast had to contend with a rogue AI, like Ultron, who continuously grows stronger, to where Bagan considers this foe to be a threat to his own plans and sends his minions to dispose of the 'Ultron' of The Bridge...

But, on the subject of dinosaurs, I happen to be quite knowledgeable with dinosaurs, and have tried to tie the real animals that roamed our planet with our favorite ponies...

For future knowledge, if you have any questions about dinosaurs, for your fiction or for your curiosity, just ask me and I'll tell you all you need to know...

Amusing idea, but too out of left field for the story. Equestria is a very magic-centric setting. In theory the only thing an Ultron AI could use is a sewing machine and radio, not very intimidating at all. And even that is iffy considering most Equestrian machinery seems to run off magic or conventional methods, not electricity. And introducing Ultron himself or an AI like him probably would stick out too much and crowd out the normal villains. Besides, in a world like Equestria were an AI can't grow, I doubt it be nearly as much of a threat to Equestria's native power houses, let alone a kaiju.

And while the offer is nice, I think I'm good. I've been into herpatology and paleontology since infancy (3rd word was 'Pachy!' as in Pachycephalosaurus wymongenisis), even currently enrolled at the university on a path to a masters in it. Got quite the fossil and casting collection too from over the years (mosasaur jaw and teeth is my prized one :pinkiehappy: ). If I feel like a chat for a like minded paleo nut, I'll give you a ring. By the way, if you live on the East Coast US and happen to be in Atlanta; give the Fernbank museum a go. It's got a full mounted Giganotosaurus c. and Argentinosaurus h.

3141000 Sorry for not being really clear…

AI is an abbreviation for, (A)rtifical (I)ntelligence, which means:
An intellect created by artificial means, mostly by computers and technology.

That doesn't really rule out an Artificial Intelligence being created by magical means, also magic IS a science that is yet to be explained, what we call technology today, would be called sorcery to a primitive culture that is not developed enough.

The thing that you seem to have left out on how something like Ultron can exist in Equestria, are Golems, puppet guardians created from stone by magical means to perform the task they are designed for, aka, a magical equivalent of a AI controlled robot. I have heard from somewhere, can't recall what, that there exists a show or movie that has something like what I'm talking about.

Plus, more advanced technology does exist in Equestria, like in the Hearts and Hooves episode where a colt was playing an arcade cabinet, you have to look carefully to see what I mean. Even if it was a joke of sorts, it doesn't rule out the fact that, at least some form of modern tech exists in Equestria. If not, then magic is really Equestria's version of the World Wide Web, that it is everywhere, a magical version of a rogue AI can certainly take advantage of that.

If you think carefully, there are at least a few loopholes where the most unlikely and impossible things, are actually very possible, certain conditions do have to be met for those things to happen.
An example would be;
If out of the blue, the Indominus rex appears in Ponyville right when the kaiju are resting up, the hybrid dinosaur would go on a wild rampage and attack anything in sight and in their restricted forms, the kaiju are being weakened fighting a creature who is so confused that it doesn't think straight. By some fluke, the Indominus becomes a kaiju as well, with so many things happening all at once, the creature flees to parts unknown, for it to be trouble in the future.

That would be pretty random, and out there, but it is possible, like the dinosaur being pulled by some unknown force and thrown into the path that led to your story's universe, VERY unlikely, but not impossible. Have you got my point about theoretical possibilities? One thing is for sure, if it can be thought up, then it is probable, not impossible, the chances are simply too small to really be taken seriously, but it is a possibility, not suggesting an AI like Ultron, not Ultron himself, without a good reason…

Enjoy Jurassic World, or hope you enjoyed Jurassic World, I know I might, despite my little nitpicks at scientific accuracy…

just saw the movie today. IT… WAS… GREAT!!!!

While the first Jurassic Park film was lauded by paleontologists for depicting dinosaurs accurately and in line with the science of the time, based on the then current knowledge, and changing the public view of dinosaurs as slow and giant lizard-like reptiles, Jurassic World is being criticized for purposely ignoring new discoveries and knowledge. Several dinosaur experts are calling the film a "dumb monster movie" for failing to include new discoveries about the creatures, such as some dinosaurs being covered with feathers or proto-feathers, and the way velociraptors held their front limbs.

HOWEVER they seem to forget that the dinosaurs are only POSSIBLE in the movie's universe by use of amphibian DNA to fill the gaps in the dinosaur DNA(A plot point in the original novel and film) and that could very well be what prevented the dinosaurs from growing feathers.

In the film itself, and this is not a spoiler, it's said that that had the scientists not used amphibian DNA, the dinosaurs "would look very different", and they were going for "cool, not realistic".

In other words the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park/World could very well be considered a man-made subspecies of dinosaur. VERY similar to the originals, to the point they are practically the same animals, but with enough differences to note a clear distinction. It's like comparing an elephant to a woolly mammoth. SIMILAR in a LOT of ways, but ultimately different.

The point of this little spiel? I just had an hour long argument with someone on youtube about this. :facehoof:
