Something That I Should Have Said a While Ago

    Here's hoping I haven't been forgotten. *ahem*

It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything to this site, and it's been long overdue.

Many of you are waiting for updates on a few of my stories, some of you are probably worried that they are cancelled. And while I should give you a short, simple answer, I'm going to evaluate a little bit on the situation.

CLICK ME BECAUSE I'M IMPORTANT! NO, SERIOUSLY!

So, heheh.. I said I was back in the game about two months ago. I'm here to let you know that I still am! I'm just moving rather slowly - I have a hard time focusing on just one story, so I'm skirting around a little bit but I'm slowly updating the chapters to Vanishing Act, Wolverine, and two stories that I'm pumping out!

    Intense Writer's Block

I'm having the worst case of writer's block that I ever had. My chapters seem to go nowhere, and my thoughts are all jumbled together in a mess. I'm sorry that it's taking me so long to update, but I've been trying. Also, I figured that you all would like some update on how I'm doing.

Almost three years ago I discovered MLP, and for some strange reason I grew to love it. The characters were fun, the show was a blast, and was somehow very appealing to me even though I was a young adult male. After watching the first two seasons completely through, I wasn't satisfied, and I craved much more than what the show had to offer.

So, I found myself making an account here on FIMfiction and I became absorbed. I constantly browsed through the stories, I kept refreshing the front page to see if something new popped up that looked interesting, and reread and kept track of all the favorites that I had. It wasn't long before I started writing myself, and after a few tries I found some success with "Wolverine: The Equestrian Myth" and "Vanishing Act."

The community was great and received my stories mostly well, and I made a few friends here and there, making my first and only longterm brony friend from the very first story I wrote. However, my writing attention span was bad, and I ended up only keeping up with my two "big" fics.

And then I stopped.

It wasn't that I became disinterested in my stories. And it wasn't because I was growing bored of writing. The answer?

I stopped loving the show.

I'm sure I'm not the first one this has happened to, and I'm sure I won't be the last. For what seemed like so long I breathed the show, getting my sister and some friends into it as well. But for some strange reason, my love had started to fade. It wasn't anything the show did, or anything that had happened to me... I just stopped loving it. After season 3 I stopped watching the show completely, and I never went back.

This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate and respect the show. Truthfully, MLP really helped me out during a few rough times, and I won't ever forget that along with the appreciate I got from my readers.

But unfortunately, as long as I don't have the same love of the show I did back then, I won't continue to write my stories. I can't force myself to do it, and I feel that since I don't feel the same love that you all do, I shouldn't try to write more chapters that don't have that feeling.

Could I love the show again? Maybe, but it seems highly unlikely. Do I have the desire to? Unfortunately, I do not. So, sadly, I am going to cancel all of my stories.

This site had meant a lot to me in the past, and I'm sure to some of you it always will. Maybe one day I'll dust off my writing hands and give it another go, but for now I'll stick with occasional browsing.

You've all been good to me. And remember that no matter who you are, no matter where you're from where what you're doing for a living, My Little Pony has brought us all together.

Stay gold, pony bros! Until next time!

Okay, so, because you stopped loving the show, but not your stories, you decided to stop writing? I mean, if you liked the show for what it was before the new seasons, why not keep going for fun?

While I'm sad to see another go, if anyone offers, will you allow them to take over any of your stories? (I'm not offering, just wondering if there's still a chance they'll be continued)

Sad to see the story go

Awwwww I was loving the stories :heart:it's sad to see it go :fluttercry:

This happened to quite a number of fimfiction authors, and sealed the fate of many great and promising stories.

It's sad but it's your choice at the end.

God forbid I end up in the same boat some time in the future :ajsleepy:

But I respect both your outlook and decision.

Well, I'm just getting into the show.

I can respect you falling out from it, although I think you dropped away from it just when the MLP stories are really starting to come into their own in writing quality and maturity. I thought the forth season was very good and fifth season, so far, is going strong. I hope you'll take the time to look up the shows on DailyMotion/Youtube and start liking it again. (Especially the nod & wink to the fans in "Slice of Life")

I got interested in MLP when I saw John deLancie at a Trek convention speaking about how he got involved doing Discord. And later, I found Zoidberg's DisQord series here where he mixed ST:TNG & MLP--where he made a serious effort to stay in canon of both shows (as much as it's possible to do). As deLancie said, why should it matter if we're men and like a show aimed at girls--when the primary goal is to teach about the value and quality of being a decent person, especially in a society that's doing its damnest to teach us all to be the exact opposite with all the partisan bickering and race baiting going on these days?

I just got through reading your Wolverine story here, and you've nailed both Logan and the Mane 6 spot-on. It's definitely a fantastic job you've done with it. It'd certainly be wonderful to see where you intended to take the story.

Hope you change your mind and feel good about seeing it again. Still, until then, best of luck to you & stay healthy.

Cheers,
Kevin

Just decided to look up the vanishing act again and i'm really sad to read this. I completely understand why you did it but it's sad to see one of my fav stories be canceled but oh well. C'est la vie

Truth be told i am also getting to the stage of losing interest. I can feel it coming with the lack of motivation to watch the show and some of the iritation at the more child orientated jokes, but i am trying my damned hardest to keep the interest but reading this just shed new light on the matter and the fact that the time is creeping up quickly. I to respect you decision

And now for a catch phrase,
See you on the other side

Aiden,

I see... That ok. But i think i will be same like you. Some day.
