Well, read Community Service and see if you agree. Didn't leave my POV hanging over the abyss after all!
Lesson Learned: deadlines are important cattle prods to get the creativity moving along. I was underwhelmed by The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone (see what I wrote about that at my Marathoning Pony blog). Worse, I wanted to extend my string of weekly stories to three. It's easy to stop; starting, not so much. I decided to work with what most irritated me,: uber-capable Rainbow Dash needing to be rescued, made the MacGuffin of the story because Pinkie Pie understood the friendship problem was a relationship problem not an action problem. My thought: what if both RD and Pinkie did something essential? What if the map wanted Gilda to know the Idol of Boreas was real? Saying any more would be a spoiler.
No episode for two weeks. If there isn't an EqD WTG make-up assignment, I may write something recasting a novel chapter as a short story.
Funny enough. I'm going to try and do a Mercenary Hero Gilda myself. Interested?
