Zero Blogs: Sparkle and Sparks · 11:08pm May 24th, 2015
Going by the end-credits of Rainbow Rocks and the meager amount of information we know about Friendship Games, Human Twilight seems to be headed towards the role of Big Bad for the third EQG movie. I'm hoping that Sunset's the main protagonist bringing the series full circle since EQG 1.
Now as I've already started writing her in the Shineverse, Twilight Sparks is meant as a darker version of both Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer. What some people tend to forgot is that Twilight in the pilot, while not necessarily arrogant, was rather condescending of the other ponies. The very idea of friendship was beneath her if it couldn't advance her studies. But over the course of the series, her friends softened her and helped her accomplish things she couldn't have done regardless of how much she learned. Just ask Starlight Glimmer.
And that makes sense, having knowledge of something is one thing, but applying it is another. We as humans grow and expand ourselves through our own interactions with others, whether positive or negative. And while they may not be as pronounced as they are in Equestria, the powers of love and friendship are very real in real life too.
But what about Sparks? Sunset at least had Celestia's guidance before turning evil and was able to use it when she turned back to good. Sparks however does not. With no friends to defrost her character and (presumably) no Celestia to guide her, I imagine her as very aloof and anti-social as Twilight was in the beginning. Furthermore, the human world lacks magic, so what is there for her to be a prodigy in? Rainbow Rocks suggests science, which would also make sense. Science allows for just as much discovery potential as magic, and combining the two can be very dangerous.
In Shine, I used Adagio Dazzle as a dark mirror for Sunset. Showing that that's what she could have become if she'd given into Searing's control. This allowed her to be all the more triumphant when she emerged victorious.
Just from what I've written so far, the two Twilights have very different mindsets. And I ask myself:
"Why is that? What could have made the two so different? And how would that bring them into conflict if they met each other?"
3095033 Much like Twilight's abduction in Shine, the two Twilights meeting is going to transition the story from the set-up to the conflict. Such an important moment can't be spoiled ahead of time.
Still thing Twilight wouldn't be evil. This Twilight likely still has Cadance and Shiny to help her out. She be a problem for the humane 6 since she would be bound to try to figure things out but evil no. Heck Human Twilight may not have had Celestia but she could have had the Human Sunset.
3095145 That's where I come in.
I'd would also imagine her being bitter towards anyone that isn't anyone in her family (or Cadance). Also very close-minded, always believing she is right and everyone who doesn't agree with her is a complete idiot. But really, what do you expect by having a principal like Cinch?
3550108 Well, we've already seen some of that even without Cinch's direct influence.
