So it's a cutie mark crusader episode. I'm going to say this now so in future reviews you will know this, I am not a fan of the cutie mark crusader. Now don't get me wrong, I like the little fillies individually, it's when they are together doing cutie mark crusader stuff that I don't really like.
So the cutie mark crusader find out that babs got her cutie mark and they have a pic of it at the bottom of a letter, I like this and I really hope we get to see it on her in a future episode. Then the cutie mark crusader start to talk about, what if you don't like your cutie mark, and once you get it you can't be a crusader anymore, what will happen if your family doesn't like it. You know normal freak out stuff everyone gets one day when they dont know what they are going to do. An applebloom starts to freak out, so much so that applejack has to calm her down with a song, and I love this song so much. It is so short, simple, and sweet. I can relate to this song super well, in high school I was always afraid to be myself due to the fact I didn't think anyone would like the real me. It was when I started to be me that I started feel happy with who I really was.
BREAKFAST #1 - An its pancakes and apples. Applebloom has a new cutie mark, and it makes her a pest pony? I like the idea of a pest pony but at the same time, knowing this is a dream it's kinda disappointing we don't know if they are really real. An of course, on applebloom's cutie mark their is an apple, cause apple family. I like the small simple touch here. ENTER older pest pony and he teaches applebloom the way of the pest. I love the twittermites. So applebloom learns to catch them and the older pest pony pulls a batman and leaves applebloom, a little filly, with a cart of dangerous twittermites. Score one for bad decision. ENTER diamond tiara and silver spoon, who are only here to make applebloom feel bad about her cutie mark. An applebloom does the only reasonable thing after being teased and run into the everfree forest. Score 2 for bad decision. A dark voice tells her 'if your cutie mark bothers you so much then get rid of it' and she agrees and one weird wind later she is a blank flank. she heads back to town to find that the twittermites are free and distorting the town, big surprise there, and I'm not sure if anyone noticed but wilhelm scream. Applebloom tries to catch the bugs and it doesn't work, lighting strikes, and it was a dream.
Breakfast #2 - An a roster lays an egg, nice, and I love that breakfast has been sweet with the adding of muffins and chocolate to the pancake. Applebloom now has a potions cutie mark and calls back to the Twilight time episode. Love it. Applebloom runs off to tell her friends and I wish we would have just followed her, cause it's her dream, but nope we get to see applejack saw 'don't forget to do your chores' as if this was the real thing.
So bla bla bla, and applebloom cant be a cutie mark crusader now that she has her cutie mark and gets kicked out. In a lot of reviews people pointed out that this is her club house on her land, well I say no. She needed to be kicked out to reinforce her feeling that she was no longer apart of the cutie mark crusader, since the Crusader fixed it up together and called it the cutie mark crusader clubhouse. So her friends close the door on her and she is back in the scary forest, creepy voice, scary wind, blank flank. Back to the club house, and her finds her friends have there cutie marks, and Oh No we still can't be friends. Shes alone in the club house and, a giant roster in the window... wake up.
Breakfast #3 - Nothing but sugar, cake, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and fish swimming in a bowl of grape juice... huh. Appleblooms new cutie mark is... a dolphin. OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH. BIG MAC TALKS <3 love it. An oh no see can be an apple no more, how sad. (sarcasm) I love the added pics in the back ground with applebloom being cute out of them. An wake up.
Dream #4 - Pinky Pie is the roster, but no surprise, it's pinky pie. i can see her do this on a normal basis. They should have done some pony else, like twilight or something. That would have made me laugh. And after seeing cutie mark after cutie mark on her flank, she freaks out and back into the forest. Creepy voice and applebloom starts to get mad and running fixes everything. ENTER luna who is my fav. She shows applebloom that its only her shadow and that she is making herself crazy due to her early freak out about her cutie mark. I would have liked it to end here and for applebloom to wake up and talk to her friends then but nope, the cutie mark crusader are gathered from their dreams an all go to the cutie mark crusader clubhouse, dream room. Lesson learn everyponys happy, scootaloo gets to fly, yea lesson learned.
I both loved and ehed this episode. I think a few little chances could have really put it over the top for me. In the end it was a good lesson and one that I'm sure kids and even some adults can relate too.
