Holy what. · 2:24pm May 7th, 2015

No, seriously, what? I've seen it fluctuate from 30th to 80th, and the rankings for the top 100 tends to be crazy.... But 6th? Waaaat.

Yes, I still live! I still /want/ to write, but actually getting the time to do so is hard! (or the feeling of wanting to write when I do have time).

Anyways! Thanks all for getting the story where it is. <3

edit: as of the time of this edit, now 5th. WAT.

Your feels, I know them all.

It's a classic. What more is there to say?

That was the first fic I ever read - you deserve it mate

Maybe it'll peak the top story :D I know that feel, congrats!

Well it is a really good story.

Yknow, a sequel would probably get it more attention. Maybe even a TwiDerp sequel.

Just sayin.

Yeah, I know that feel. But congrats!

I do have some vague ideas in mind for something, but it's not very high on my totempole of things I want to write next~

I watch the same thing happen with Applejack's Bar. It's been following a pattern of slow rises, then a drop when another random downvote happens. One time, it popped up to #2, perhaps because of a temporary ban on the person behind one of those downvotes. Who knows?

And my attempts to figure out the formula behind the rankings have so far proven unsuccessful.

Great news! Now write, motherfucker!

3052290 well, that's rather rude. i think you mean, 'Now, please write motherfucker.'

Such a great read. I think I'll have another go!

I am a shame. I have not read this one yet. It has languished on my RL forever. I guess I should. Soon. TM. :derpytongue2:

But congrats, anyway. :raritystarry:

I know exactly how it happened: It's a great read.

Mood Wings is one of my absolute favorites; and I guess mostly everypony agrees. I think I've read it three times so far, and this simple tale of Pegasi body language is as fun to read now as ever.

So, good job! Can't wait to see what you write next.

Hap

Vely nithe.

I'd been meaning to reread Mood Wings (and I'm so sorry but the reference only just now clicked) and since I just finished reading The Last Human: A Tale of the Preclassical Era I was just thinking about something a little lighter.

It's a good story, one worth rereading every couple years or so. I don't think it's 'fifth on the site' good but putting moodwings there shows better judgement than I would have expected from a popularity contest.

Admittedly, it's not quite a good metric. For example, if a brand new fic manages to get a few hundred upvotes (200-300ish+) without a single downvote, that'll give it an amazing upvote ratio and propel it to the top of the list... even if, in all honesty, it's not as good as, say, fic #50 or lower on the list.

The list is arguably more useful with older fics. Newer ones bounce around a lot depending on the influx of downvotes.

Still, it's a nice feeling! :rainbowkiss:

The metric for 'good' has always been a weird and difficult to pin down creature in art. Science, yes, because after all if the bridge you build falls down before it opens, it can be considered 'bad' and the bridge that is still standing after the earthquake that leveled everything else in the city can be called 'good.' My favorite metric is the ratio of upthumbs to chapter reads, but even that goes a little wonky if a bunch of EqD readers who don't have fimfiction accounts read your stuff and can't upthumb. Still, 10% is pretty darned amazing considering 35k reads. Grats!

(Peeks) Oh, War of Words is back on the front page again. It's been all over the place too. Still, less than a third of your total reads. I'll have to try harder :pinkiehappy:

Wouldn't that ratio mean that people re-reading your story actually decreased your rating?

3055953 I don't believe second readings increase your page count, but I could be wrong. Somewhere there was a glitch on one of my stories that put 30,000 page views on one chapter with about a thousand on all the rest, so I suppose second readings might do *something*. (or some wierd internet page glitch somewhere that hammered a page to death)

Maybe fimfiction is just trying to motivate you to write?
