Peregrine Caged

I miss the days--to all my fans and supporters, you were great. I leave a ghost, honest but neglected promises, and just the tip of the worlds I wished to share...

In Equestria's far past, when the Chaos lord ruled, in a fit of boredom he has summoned warriors and desperate souls from all of Equestria--from anywhere and anywhen they come to fight to the death in his Arena for their ultimate heart's desire.

Something Positive, Yes? A...Fairytale of sorts. The Tale of Jackal and Phoenix

So, one thing I have been doing is a lot of homebrewing and world building for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting, Alandria. Have a good game, a little over a year old now, going, and it really sparks my creativity. I long to reach a point where I can write stories and the like in my world, like certain others have done in the past. (Haaah, dreams.)

My Name is Jared DeZarn. I'm a Worthless Failure.

So heads up. I have had a bit more to drink than I meant to. I'm still, more or less, aware of myself. I won't be blacking out or anything. If anything, I'm kind of in a super aware state?

(Something of substance to come some other day, but I am still alive, just...a fucking idiot, as I always have been. Sorry.)

My God, He's Releasing Something New

Jaysus, I've been quiet here. In all ways, not just the writing side of life. Which sucks. I suck, yes.

Call to Help Finish the Games

So, the Games, as originally intended, are pretty much done. But that's not my fault--so I'll see them done, even if the overall exercise has been largely lost.

The Discordian Games: Round 1 Spotlights -- Grey Tiercel vs. Morning Glow · 2:18am May 4th, 2015

For each of the pairings, I'll be doing a blog giving details on them. All this information is available here, with the full list of character bios. As well, I'll put a link directly to their fights and voting doc. Every Saturday, I'll post another one with a new pairing.

When it's an investigator against an infiltrator, the game of cat and mouse goes both ways.

Battlefield: The Arboretum Phantasmagorical
This field is comprised of a public park gone incredibly wrong. The geography here is somewhat mutable, with direction and gravity shifting and changing throughout the field. At any time one might see the ground directly beside them, going up and down at bizarre angles, or even directly ahead. All manners of plants--trees, flowers, shrubs, and even crops--are found here, growing in their own chaotic manner. But perhaps the most common are the stands of trees, some which might grow perpendicular to one another as the ground appears to shift at a perfect right angle, others which look as if they are growing into or through each other. In many places the trees are so thick as to be nearly impossible to pass by, unless one is somewhat small, to squeeze through between the trunks, or strong enough to break through. On top of the peculiar geography are the compositions of the trees themselves. Occasionally they are unlike any other plant known to pony--some might have petrified long ago, others are springy and flexible, like rubber, but look completely normal. On a more disturbing note are the wooden statues, incredibly lifelike in detail and seemingly random in placement. Sometimes it even seems like they appear and disappear with a will, changing positions and species at an eye blink. The weather is generally pleasant, with cloudy sunshine, but sudden showers can drench the woods at a moment’s notice.

Grey Tiercel
Race: Unicorn Pony
Description: With a platinum coat and steel blue mane, Grey presents a solid, striking pose. Despite being in his prime years, his slate grey eyes tell a different story, one of an old soul who has experienced much. He often wears an old, beat up duster and a trilby he’s rarely seen without. His cutie mark is a magnifying glass over three hoofprints.
Origin: Near Future, Manehattan
Capabilities: Grey is a savvy unicorn in decent shape, utilizing his talent for investigation to the fullest. He is especially skilled at seeing the connections between clues, suspects, and crime. Combined with his bullheaded determination, Grey is excellent at what he does, although sometimes his stubbornness pushes him too far. Though skilled in reading ponies’ emotions and body language, having been shunned by his peers growing up he can sometimes act a little naive and slow in regular social situations. Grey is skilled with his magic, though better at powerful spells rather than finesse. Most of his spells are designed to assist him in his investigation, such as tracking and locating, but he also has developed spells for use in combat, as well as those that allow him to trap and ensnare his quarry. Grey is fairly strong for a unicorn due to his lifestyle and past police training, though he fights in a brash, brawly style. Lastly, Grey takes time to study magic and even tinkers with magitechnology.
Bio: Grey never knew his parents. Raised in a royally funded home for orphaned foals, Grey was ostracized from his fellows as the only unicorn in the home; the natural prejudice of the poor against the upper class unicorns evident even amongst the young. Before he even gained his cutie mark, the funding ran out for the home and Grey was forced to the streets. Though hard, with the help from his magic, he managed to survive and slowly found his talent defending the less fortunate around him. Lying about his age, Grey managed to get accepted at the Police Academy, eventually becoming a beat cop in the Manehattan Police Department. With his experience on the streets and old connections, he was one of the most successful in the force and quickly made detective. However, that was when he found his career stalled by the brass of the MPD. His refusal to compromise his integrity and become just another corrupt cop got him blacklisted. He quit, but got his investigator’s license in order to serve the city on his own terms.
Motivation: For most of Grey’s life, he has struggled and put his life on the line to see his hometown of Manehattan bettered. But nowhere has he sacrificed more than for the city’s orphans and street urchins. Raised one himself, Grey walks the edge of destitution to donate his time and money to the various orphanages. Though he wishes violence on nopony, Discord’s offer is just another example of a hard choice for good results--namely to save the city’s orphans once and for all. What’s one more nightmare if it means he can finally achieve his goal?

Morning Glow/Drone-421
Race: Changeling
Description: As with any changeling, Drone-421 has a black body covered in armor-like chiton, with bright blue eyes, delicate wings, and a black tail. However, she spends much time in her common pony infiltration form. As Morning Glow, she is a yellow-coated pegasus, with an orange and pink mane and tail, rose-coloured eyes, and a lone ray of sunlight as a cutie mark.
Origin: Modern Day, Fillydelphia
Capabilities: As a changeling gatherer, which focus on covert, lasting infiltration, Morning Glow is one of the most skilled mimics in her hive. Not only can she copy ponies she sees, but she can alter her appearance in even the slightest of details. As far as strength and fighting ability goes, she is slightly above average for most changelings. Her real skill lies in her ability to read others. She can tell the truth from a lie and understands the workings of subtle body language cues like no other. In battle, this allows her to predict and react to her opponent’s fighting style, as all creatures have hints that telegraph their moves.
Bio: Drone-421 is a gatherer in her hive. Her specific task is to go peacefully into pony society, seeking out the best potential sources of love. As such, she has developed her own ponysona, Morning Glow, in order to form relationships with others--not necessarily just ponies--and collects the energy of their love, which she returns to the hive periodically. While she enjoys what she does and is loyal to her hive and the will of her matriarch, she wishes the hive could live in prosperity. As they are, they barely find enough love to subsist on, let alone enough to expand.
Motivation: It is Morning’s hope that, with the drive to do what’s best for her hive, she may ask from Discord a source of much, much more love that her hive may utilize, to make a thriving paradise, as opposed to the squalor they currently suffer in.
