How to anger people, and lose Watchers. · 9:38pm Apr 28th, 2015
I want to apologize to everyone who reads this in advance, because this is not a good news post.
It's been eating away at me for a while, this is easily one of the hardest decisions I've had to make. But I've just gotta rip that band-aid off, and get it over with.
I'm not writing 50 Shades of Hay anymore. I cannot continue to write 50 Shades.
There are several factors that have attributed to my decision: when I first started writing the story, it was a fun little side-project, and I was unemployed, I had all the time in the world to spare. Then, after I had dropped a few chapters, I found full time employment. The transition from "all the time in the world" to, "no time to myself" was a jarring one to say the least. But I managed to pump out a few more chapters, and things were relatively well. But due to the nature of the story, I had to cut it down, and squeeze a lot of plot into a small space: I had to essentially fill a round hole with a square object.
This was by necessity, if I were to copy the original book, chapter for chapter, it would be exactly 69 chapters long. And no, I don't think that's a coincidence, I think E. L. James planned that... but that's beside the point. Trying to jam all that plot and story in as tightly as I could, ended up messy, and sloppy, and the story wasn't traveling in the direction that I wanted it to. Hence, why I tried to re-write it. The key word in that sentence being tried.
There have been a lot of factors within my personal life that have constricted my writing, but more then anything else, I've lost my passion for it. From when I started 50 Shades, to right now, I've changed, and grown. I'm not the same person, and I don't want to write that kind of material anymore.
And on that note, I will be finishing Red Handed.
"But that's the same kind of material!" I hear you shout. True, but there are a few key differences between RH and 50SoH.
First and foremost: it's my story, I'm not copying another author, because it's mine. Secondly: it has encouraged me to do a lot of world building, which has affected how I perceive Humanized Ponies. Thirdly: It's far shorter, there are only two more chapters before that story is finished, which is what I'll be focusing on in the mean time, whenever I get time.
And then I'll be gone for a while, but I won't be gone forever. Because when I do choose to return, it will be with stories that I want to write, not stories that I feel obligated to write.
And if I lose Watchers for my decision, then so be it. Every choice has a consequence, and I fully understand. But hey, there are plenty of brilliant authors in this site, who are more than worthy of your time. And if you haven't already, go read Fallout Equestria. I really, really recommend that story.
Until we meet again, have a good day, and stay out of trouble.
But if you can't... then bloody well go for it.

While I'm sad to hear that, I understand. People change, and when the story wasn't updated for months, I already figured that it was done.
Good luck with your future fics
