"Tanks for the Memories, I'm off to Guantanamo Bay", or "The Episode Where Rainbow Dash Became a Terrorist" · 1:56am Apr 26th, 2015
I... just... what.
Ok, first the good things.
1. The premise is good. Showing Rainbow dealing with heartache and loss is a good idea. She invests a lot of effort into making herself seem invincible, so seeing her so vulnerable could have been really touching.
2. The Who's on First bit was great. The episode was worth watching just for that.
3. Fluttershy is getting some cold, hard stones this season. It's like she actually learned a lesson from that fucking Breezies episode about the limits and best applications of kindness, and isn't afraid to say what's up when it's necessary. She's quickly ascending the ranks to "best pony".
4. This face:
Now, the bad things.
1. Rainbow would not stop fucking yelling in this episode. I get it, she's upset, but there must have been a better way to show that than having Ashleigh Ball screech into her microphone for the entire episode. That crying scene was unbearable.
2. Rainbow Dash becomes a terrorist set on stopping winter. Among other things she destroys the Cloudsdale weather factory. We're shown multiple pegasi screaming for their fucking lives before part of the factory explodes and Ponyville is hit by a nuclear snowball. This could have been cool if the show did anything else with it, but it was a fucking Big Lipped Alligator Moment. The show cared more about a fucking tortoise's sleeping habits than the destruction of a major source of employment and the potential deaths of anyone in the way.
I can't believe this is the same pony that stood up to Lightning Dust and Spitfire in Wonderbolts Academy because she had a problem with recklessness. Rainbow shouldn't be this fucking stupid, she wasn't before Rainbow Falls. I would be happy if the show just forgot she existed because the only thing it ever lets her do now is be a complete fuck up.
Sounds like good character development to me.

If only the episode were as cool as my summary.
Sums up what I thought about it, really.
it was worth it just for apathetic Twilight.
Amen.
