    I'm not dead!

Sorry for lack of updates! Life has been a wee bit hectic lately, so My updates on Ashes to Apples have been slow-coming. I WILL be continuing, fear not! Touching up some pre-writing now, actually. Once I get a regular upload schedule, you can expect very little deviation.

    I'm back

No huge blog post this time, just a simple statement. Anyone who reads my blogs may have thought I ditched FimFiction entirely, but I assure you, I have not.

You can expect a new story this week, if not within 24 hours of this blog post being published. I'm starying a very different kind of saga this time around, and hope it is to your liking.

    FimFic; I am BACK!

tLoE part VII: Pony Tech; Future, past, or what? · 8:20am Apr 24th, 2015

Hello and Welcome! If you're just tuning in, this is part two of Equestria's technology! Last week we covered their Transportation, Medical, and Communications technology, so this week, we'll be checking out a few more fields.

Starting right off, Let's delve into their clothing businesses. I could probably write a whole other blog on how clothing and fashion work in their society, but this time around, we're only interested in how advanced the clothing field is. That said, it's a bit difficult to gauge, as it's quite curiously used in the land. See, Clothing is more of a formality in Equestrian society, as opposed to a near Necessity on Earth, so initially, one may assume that, since it's not entirely necessary, it may be undeveloped. However, The works of characters such as Rarity prove that it's actually a highly competitive and ever-evolving industry, leading to many manufacturers attempting to use new materials, new methods, etc. fabric-wise, if seems they're on par with us, as evidenced by a few materials, such as Rarity's New cloth in "Rarity takes Manehattan". They also have automatic sewing machines, seen in numerous episodes, alongside fairly modern modeling supplies. Due to this, I'd rank their Clothing development with modern Earth, placing it #1 for most advanced...so far.

However, another Industry is sneaking up to take that title: baking. Yes, that's right, Baking is actually a heavily developed Equestrian a Industry, complete with modern Ovens, Clean sinks, blenders, mixers, baking trays, etc. In fact, it may even be slightly more advanced than ours, Given that Pinkie was able to rapidly grow rock candies in the episode "Maude Pie", and the Cakes were able to somehow properly make a Sapphire cupcake in "Secret of my excess. Spike even tried following a cook book for a crystalline cake in "Just for Sidekicks", which goes beyond conventional Earth capabilities, most likely. I believe the reason for such advancement is a multi-species society, in which the culinary field had to grow in diverse directions for more difficult consumers, such as dragons and gryphons (Diet still unconfirmed for them...both Eagles and Lions are mostly Carnivorous so, working off that, they're probably even with us in meat as well). Thus ranking Culinary Technology first, as slightly beyond Earth's capabilities.

But one field remains to top them all...one field that few Humans have even looked into...dear reader, I speak of no other field than...
Weather Control!

Here on Earth, Scientists are currently working on the ability to form clouds around laser beams that attract water particles from the air. However, such tests result is very small, very linear clouds, and as for "artificial weather", large scale applications are nearly nonexistent in record. Meanwhile, Cloudsdale not only can manufacture weather, it can regulate it. Pegasi artificially generate clouds at weather factories, create snow, And even create Rainbows. Now, the only process of those three to be fully explained is snowflakes, in which a small army of ponies work carefully on crafting the small ice crystals, to be deployed in Winter. The Cloud process is not greatly explained, but It is known that they collect water from ground sources for processing, which after being treated (most likely an evaporation engine), are released as clouds. Rainbows are not explained in detail at all. All we know is that they do in fact make and deploy them in/from Cloudsdale, and apparently it's fairly spicy (potentially toxic, Who knows, Pinkie could eat anything). Other technologies were shown as well, such as the Mini-Cyclone generators in "Wonderbolt Academy", meaning they can not inly control weather, but technologically contain forces like cyclones within a confined space. All of that rockets Weather Technology up to First place, as Far more advanced than Human Technologies in that field. (For more information, see my blog on the Equestrian Weather System).

And are those all the fields to cover? No, There's still Military Tech (spears and Armor mixed with Modern flight jumpsuits mix up it's placement), Material development (Crystals are pretty tough, but how advanced are they? ), recording tech (cameras and phonographs it seems...), and plenty more. But by observing these six, what have we learned? Some fields are lower, some higher, some about the same, but what can we take from that exactly? It all boils down to society. They needed certain things more than Humans, just as Humans needed certain things more than Equestrians, leading to divides, differences, and varied interests. Either way, The technology seen is pretty interesting, and hopefully Season 5 provides us with plenty more examples of just how intriguing Equestria truly is.

Need a recap? Here you go!
-This is part 2. If you didn't read part 1, go read part 1.
-Equestrian Clothing tech is About Modern
-Equestrian baking tech/tools, thanks to diverse Species, are more advanced than ours
-Equestria's weather Technology is Decades beyond ours
-Comparing our tech and theirs balances out nicely: it all depends on societal needs.

That should cover it! As always, keep on doing what you do best, and enjoy Season 5 everyone, I know I will!
I'm Ironsmith, Invent on!
