One of these days, I'll get everything done. · 4:29am Apr 15th, 2015
So, if you've been waiting for the last few chapters of Scion, you probably noticed nothing has been released the past few weeks even though I said I would be working on it.
I hate to say I lied, because I didn't really. I actually tried to finish it before BABSCon. That didn't happen. The next chapter has been written and rewritten about 6 times now. I'm still not happy with it.
Fortunately, BABSCon is over (it was amazing by the way ) and the Writeoff is in prelim week for judging right now. I might have some time to write, if it weren't for work. The massive culmination of a two year long project is finally coming to head this week, so I'll be lucky to survive the weekend. I really want to get the story finished seeing as it's been floating around in my head for months - I need to get it written and move on to everything else I've been wanting to write. Hopefully that will happen soon. Fingers crossed.
I also went and did another crazy thing - I'm planning on going to EFNW at the end of May. I never knew these conventions could be so fun. If work doesn't kill me, conventions will. BABS did a pretty big number on me. Between the day I left home on Wednesday, until the time I got back very late on Monday night, I got a combined total of 23 hours of sleep (that's over five nights, so I averaged less than 5 hours a night), plus I drove 11 hours to get there and 11 hours back home not even counting all the driving I did in San Fran with all the VIP guests (which was pretty non-stop). It took me 3-4 days before I was finally back in my normal rhythm after all of that. And I loved every minute of it. Sorry I could only stay at the writers party for all of 15 minutes -- really sorry I had to run out on Quill Scratch, not once, but twice. He came all the way from the UK, and I pretty much said "hi" to him twice and ran away. Sorry for being such a jerk, Quill. My biggest regret, however, is that I didn't take more pictures. Next time, I'll spend more time doing the people thing and taking more pictures.
One of these days, I'll finally get around to doing everything else I want to do.
I don't blame you—I think we all knew from the moment you said you'd be on the staff that you wouldn't have very much free time at all. I'm just glad I got the chance to say "hi" back
Hope you have a great time (and hopefully a little more sleep) at EFNW!
